Aren't Potions of Haste supposed to be rare?
I found myself relying on them quite often and noticed it tended to trivialize a lot of encounters so I decided to look them up.

From some websites I browsed it was supposed to be a pretty rare thing to have a potion of speed/haste. Is this information accurate?

Was thinking of not using them on my playthrough and seeing how the encounters went.

I crafted 8 in one batch and bought more from vendors. They didn't feel very rare to me. Maybe in certain areas of the game they feel rare but in act 3 I have a somewhat healthy supply.
Are you playing on the hardest difficulty? Maybe try bumping it up if things are too easy.

I mean't in D&D in general and not just in Larian's version of it.

You can buy them fairly cheaply and crafting them is easy early on when you are fighting the gnolls. I personally only use them on particularly tough fights, and only on certain companions so ive always had at least 10 spare potions on hand

they indeed are rare. Definitely way more rare and easy coming than bg3 for sure lol.Just like pots of invi.

Potion of haste is marked as very rare in the PHB (or was it the compendium? i can't remember, it's been a while since i've read those books) if im not mistaken. Just like pots of invi. Yet they're pretty much everywhere in this game.

Nothing in BG3 is rare... honestly I reccommend against playing casters, because you are going to get so many magic items and illithid powers anyway, every class is basically a full caster

This is how Lariat designs games - just throw everything at the player in massive quantities.

We've been telling them this is a problem for three years. They don't care.

It is kind of the vibe of D&D that magical items, say a +! weapon might be some impossible rarity to a regular person while adventurers trip over them constantly.

No potion or poison is rare for me, I've got a Githyanki hireling in my camp who is a Transmutor Wizard with +15 Medical skill and an Astarion with +19 Sleight of Hand and Advantage on his pickpocket DC checks. Plus the names and addresses of every potion ingredient seller in town.

Potions for everyone!

+1 or higher weapons aren't meant to be on every second NPC, but by the time you're in Act 2 it surely seems like it.
