SPOILER AHEAD!!!!!

I've recently finished the game and was wondering if anyone else got the ending where Astarion is able to walk freely in the sun?

Wasn't he always able to (since the tadpole infection)? Our character even ask him about how he's able to.

Yeah I was totally shocked what I got was the scene where he looks at the sun and then his dialogue is "it's warm, guess some of the effects from the tadpole are permanent" or along those lines

I looked into possible endings since I was curious and notice how no one mentioned that one and was confused since I think that is a good one for him.

Because you completed his quest....evil astarion can endure the sun after that.

If Astarion ends up ascending at the end of his questline he can tolerate the sun.

My playthrough was a good align one where my custom character tried her best to save everyone I finished all the companions quest and was able to pass all checks in order to persuade them to make the better choice; i.e gale didnt use the orb and wont keep the crown, lae'zel renounced Vlaakith and help free orpheus, Astarion killed Cazador but didnt ascend and freed the spawn and thrall, shadowheart didnt kill Nightsong and saved her parents, Wyll broke his contract and saved his father from the Iron Throne, and lastly Karlach had her engine fixed (she did explode unfortunately but with friends) I did however choose to become Illithid in order to defeat the netherbrain and chose to kill myself as I couldnt trust to not turn evil. Maybe with those last 2 options it allowed Astarion to live out his life in the sun since I made the sacrifice

He is suppose to run away in the end.
i completed his quest, and saved all of the \vampires, letting them go.
Astarion ran away in the end.

And there I thought the ending where you consume his brain was weird... I wonder if what you experienced is a bug if he did not ascend.
