Help!! I can't win Emerald Grove fight.
I've done pretty much everything there is to do in Chapter 1 (that I can - some things are just too high level for me), but I can't get past the fight at the gate!

You mean the first fight where the goblins are attacking, right after the Nautiloid? You're only going to reach level 2 before that fight. Just kill the two archers on the hill and the rest of the npcs should be able to handle the rest, with your help. I've intentionally focused fire on them as a Dark Urge character and they still won.

If you're talking about assaulting alongside the goblins, I dunno. You should easily be able to reach level 5 without even touching the Grove quest. I generally hit level 6 from that quest.

Edit: Are you talking about the Goblin Camp that you need to clear out in order to save the Druid? A single Cloud of Daggers at a choke point can kill half the goblins for you, without you even having to do anything other than wait. If you really want to cheese it, use Minor Illusion to gather them all in one spot before you start the fight and then cast it on them, hitting 7+ at once and killing them on the start of their turn.

I had same issue.

If they are too powerfull there are few options.

Exit via other entrance (there is more entrances)

Or kill one monster, leave area, return, kill another, its afwull, but if you have no other choice...

Or Exit via other entrace, and buff self with best weapons, potions, scrolls, etc... its legit, because you know, they wait for you.

Yea, that fight is very hard.

That goblin fight is pretty tough.

It is is suggested you save scum the Ogre horn (Or just offer to pay them) to help you in battle. Blow the horn. The ogres show up and tank most of the damage and die.

He might mean attacking the grove with Minthara?

The first fight at the gate is virtually impossible to lose isn't it?

I'm not sure. Lol

1st goblin fight after nautiloid is unlosable, it almost wins itself without any outside help on tactician, so probably attack on the grove. OP, if You did everything possible, You should be around lvl 6 there, are You?

Generally this fight is easy as everything else, unless You want to save everyone on Your side, then You want to get 2 of Your strongest fighters on the sides to save archers from jumping spiders, have ranged damage/support in the middle, drop something like hunger of hadar on the ground, so enemies can't shoot You, make use of explosive barrels in the ground, once they breach the gate(if), make it into oven with grease, bombs and some fire damage, can even plop an explosive barrel in there, if You want, then again - hunger of hadar(preferably)/darkness, and let them burn being unable to do anything, only minthara has any chances of surviving it, since she can heal herself, but then You can just 4man her, so again - easy.

I can't think of anything they could be too low of a level for. I enter the Underdark at level 3 and don't find anything to be too strong.

Yup, but maybe OP just thinks they did everything, and skipped a lot of content in the underdark, who knows :P

Should be at level 6 or close to it or else you haven't done most of everything. Should make sure you did most of everything before turning on them.

I'm a she, lol. And sorry I was so obtuse. Yes, I meant the fight with Minthara at the Emerald Grove. I got it finally, by leaving my fighter, priest, and bard outside, and leaving Astarion inside with the Ogre Horn. I basically skipped all his turns while everyone outside dealt with Minthara. The nice thing is that the ogre didn't throw the goblins into the Grove, he threw them up to the three characters (I basically sacrificed them). Then I had Astarion grease and fire the entire entrance so that the guys with dynamite couldn't blow the door. After that, the Teiflings pretty much picked everyone off outside, by the time the enemy ogre got through the door, there were only a few left, so that my ogres and Astarion could pick them off. What a pain, though.

lower the difficulty

The gate attack right after coming from the Nautiloid is super-easy even on tactician difficulty.

I stabbed the goblin on top of the hill in the back with Astarion and then simply did the whole "fight" with crossbows ( Nautiloid copres are full of them, i just temperarily equiped all classes with them no matter their stats since they are so low level and weak at that point ) from the hill, THAT easy. No grove NPC even got killed.

If he means assaulting the Goblin camp there are several ways to do it. Easiest way is get the ogre summoning horn so they join in. But i also learned you can poison their drinks. That said, i don't think it is necessary to use such methods at all. If you cannot handle like 15 easy-medium enemies, what are you going to do later in the game ? It is all about throttling them into fighting only 1 -2 at a time using choke points, not all at once. Watch "300" for a good example of that lol.

Weak one....

So ... yeah. You guys read that I DID complete it, yes? I posted on September 6th that I beat that fight. :) Now I'm about to do Nere, or whatever the guy's name is in the Underdark. Once I figured out a good strategy, the rest of the fights have been a breeze.
