Crafting, what do the potions do?
As I look to craft items / potions etc I notice there is no description of what the item mechanically does. Do the effects last until long rest? 10 turns?

Sure its obvious what a healing potion will do, but what about an elixer of Heroism?

Is there no way to know what these items do before making them? I can't simply memorize the wiki page and constantly doing searches is a huge waste of time.

Just make them, you can't use the resources for anything else anyway.

Go to the feedback or troubleshooting section of the forums, your thread will get lost here.

Elixers last till long rest, some 10 turns. Potions are potions.

There are four catagories of potions on the Alchemy screen:
1.) Potions - Temporary or instant effects that can stack with one another. Ones that arn't "one and done" like healing potions will typically last ten turns, though some specific ones like Animal Speaking last until long rest.

2.) Elixirs - Long-term buffs that are mutually exclusive and last until your next long rest, unless overwritten by another Elixir or falling off from death.

3.) Grenades - Throwables like Alchemist's Fire or Spore Grenades.

4.) Oils - Temporary buffs able to be applied to weapons, that apply their effects on each melee hit over the next ten turns after application.

Yeah, but the UI doesn't show the potions' description. So for instance, you don't know what elixir of collosus does until you craft it and read it in your inventory.

yeah it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying that the alchemy crafting menu doesn't show the actualy effects of what you are crafting

yup, this is annoying alright!
Wonder if it was an oversight on the devs' end because it seems only logical to have all of the potions details listed prior to crafting it.

While I agree, it is not informative. Another one is I want to know what spells my wizard already knows when buying and selling scrolls.

With that said, as someone else stated, just make the potion. Those resources aren't that precious. Play the game a few hours, it all becomes secondhand knowledge.

Go to Google, type "BG3 items", go to the first link (the bg3 wiki), then click on Potions, Elixirs, Coatings, or Grenades, then read what they are.

I more wish it would tell you the value of the potions before you craft them you you know what not to waste your resources on if you just want to sell them

You realize this does not solve the issue, right? Right? The game is still lacking the descriptions, I shouldn't have to resort to external resources to know what things in the game do.

You can figure it out pretty easily though. Just remember the rule of three.

One thing to consider though is extracted ingredients can cannibalize other ingredients.
