So why is the combat so ridiculously slow?
I understand turn-based, but almost every fight the enemy stands there "thinking" for like 20 seconds before moving. Multiply that by 10-20 enemies cycling through their turn and I've nearly fallen asleep by the time it's my turn to move again.

Why is it so much more clunky and plodding than DoS2? Isn't it basically the same engine?

Gotta capture the realism of a real D&D tabletop experience.

GPU intense scene?

It might be a computer power issue? I haven't really had this (apart from occasionally the game just stops at the end of the actions of a character for a few secs before moving on to the next one

It's something I've been wondering. It's particularly frustrating because sometimes they'll pause -after- completing their turn. Like they've used up their action/bonus action and movement, then they stand there for a bit. Pondering.

It might just be a result of merging the D&D 5E rules with their engine, which doesn't appear to have gone perfectly. For example, getting into combat only applies the turn based system to people in combat. Everyone else in the world continues their lives as normal, which can lead to shenanigans happening.
The enemies aren't particularly smart about their turns either. You'll run into enemies that attack and then use their bonus action to apply poison to a weapon or something. Or attempt to shoot you with a bow at point blank range, and then use a shove to try and get some distance. Or throw an explosive that also impacts themselves.

Making less saves seems to help, unsure though.

Think this is slow try pathfinder.

New mechanics and new exceptions and BS it has to process. The game runs on DOS2 and asked to simulate 5e. They don't erase the old commands, it takes too much time reinvent the engine . Instead patch after patch will keep on tanking the processors. It may as well be set to be pending. Normally the best way to tell is the player by visual. It is why slowmotion turnbased is the best solution just like VATS in fallout is very slow motion and not turnbased. Would you use VATS very intensively every Battle would be turnbased.

AI deciding what to do a CPU thing, not GPU.

PF is real time with pause, sure you can play in turb-based mode but it wasn't intentionally designed for it.

It remind me of modding a game. First it works fine but at mod 101 it start to run worse as each mod pile on the other.

Divinity original sin look beautiful but it is running intensively showing what you can see on the screen.

I've had this happen a lot since the last patch. Enemies will do nothing for like 10 seconds when there aren't even many around. I hope my CPU isn't failing. This laptop is only a year old. Lol

I bought Pathfinder two days ago, but it just feels so weird after playing this. Haven't been able to get into it.

I'm positive it's not your CPU failing, this happens to me too and my system is in perfect shape and specs. The game AI is just thinking, it's ok to me. I do notice more of a delay in conversation choices appearing since the patch, however. Not all the time but often enough to notice it.

Sounds like the game is choking on your CPU, what CPU are you running?

Do we know that for a fact? Because it might be unorthodox but not impossible to run such queries on the GPU.
