Jokes aside, it's probably because most people just want to play the game and enjoy it instead of tryharding ig. Not to mention jobs and life in general are a thing.
Why? You might as well as just go watch the cutscenes on YouTube, anything less than Tactician turns fights into a point and click adventure game. Click on boss 3 times and win!!! So much fun!
On the contrary, there is very little to enjoy except the cutscenes when battles end in 2 turns on anything less than tactician. Save your friends $60 and tell your friends to go watch cutscenes on Youtube.
Interesting, but .7% is an abysmally small number. I think most players are intimidated without realizing game is a breeze
Subjective.
Start by answering the thread's questions and I might answer some of yours.
See the topic title? The "WHY" part? So far no one has answered it, but tons of butthurt. LOL, sorry if feelings are hurt, I don't care about your feelings, I'm speaking on a logical basis. The game has far more challenge and combat is 10x more interesting when it's not a point and click adventure. Try for yourself and see!
(% of those willing for a challenge)
x (% of those willing for a challenge in this game, which is about the story)
x (% of people who made it till the end and didn't bounce not changed the difficulty)
x (% of people whose achievements even registered)
x (% of people whose achievement even registered)
so you get the idea. You think it's too easy? Go with

you won't get a pat on the back or any "achievement" - but you'll get plenty of challenge and many of them cheeses removed. But those who yearn for a challenge don't need it for the sake of a pat on the back, right?
