Bought the Deluxe Edition. Don't have the items on an existing playthrough?

I bought the Deluxe Edition. Works fine when I made a new playthrough, but on my existing playthrough with 2 friends, I don't see them in my traveller's chest in camp. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please? Thank you!

Is the host your friend? then you won't have them I think. For me on single-player save I got them the moment I upgraded the game and restarted.

my guess is that the dlc items are created on game creation?

DLC are only going to show up in the game you created yourself. Joining someone else will not grant you the DLC items.
