How do you roll on DC 30?
So, one way - reload possibly dozen of times till you get that "critical success" aka "I roll twenties". Are there any other ways to make it so that you can actually beat the DC 30 without rolling (only) 20? That would mean you'd need 11 or above bonus - which is.. how, exactly? Ability goes to 20, so +5. You can get proficiency and maybe +1 from equip? Still way short of that 11? With bless I think you get to 10(?). Anything else?

I think you are better off using bardic inspiration to increase the chances of nat 20 i guess

You forgot the guidance cantrip. And expertise for sleight as hand as well.

You get bonuses from your stats for example dex can give a +4 to lock picking.

Shadowheart can guidance cantrip, and you can get a necklace that gives guidance as a cantrip that gives 1-4 to skill rolls.

your party members, equipment, status effects.....

with advantage you have a 10% chance per roll. if you really want it you should drop those spells, scrolls and other mods to make it possible.

Also, bardic inspiration is another +1d8 at high levels

Uff.. no, not sleight of hand (who cares about 5-6 broken lockpicks?). Stuff like persuasion.

Aha! Good one. I just don't have the bard in the party, it seems. Oh well.

Expertise is huge. I don't know how people play this game without taking a 1 level dip into rogue for Persuasion and Sleight of Hand Expertise.
Guidance is a +1d4, Thaurmaturgy (sp?) on performance/intimidation checks for advantage, You can get proficiency and expertise in abilities. If rolling with Astarion, you can get another +1 from Happy. Honestly when I do sleight-of-hand rolls with Astarion, i'm frequently hitting 32-33 so it's not impossible.

Laughs with my +15 SoH rogue Minthara
With lots of save scumming if you don't really have a chance, as a 20 is always a success :p

Rogue

Proficiency +4
Expertise +4
Dexterity +5
Thieves gloves -Advantage
Guidance +1-4
Reliable Talent - Never roll below 10

+14-18 with advantage

Needs a 12 to hit a 30, can never roll under 10

Proficiency +4 (x2 with expertise)
Ability score +4 - +6 (+8 if strength)
+1d4 from guidance
+2 from the fungus people amulet buff (for persuasion)
Ect.

Anyway I think generally you need to think of DC 30 as the game gently nudging you to find another way

That's just the devs telling you "Hey, look for the key or another way."
