It felt too dangerous to let them all loose
For 7k kills, minimum 10k XP to be split among the group imo. Pretty much an instant level up for the party unless everyone is already high levels.
Anyways, unleashing 7000 vampires seems like a choice a villain would make. Unless they scattered out, they'd undoubtedly cross paths with my character and end up on the receiving end of my blade so might as well nip that in the bud.
Basic Vampire spawn is marked as 1,800 XP, divided across a party of four means 450 XP for each spawn killed. Times the sheer number, you're looking at 3.15 million XP per party member. Pretty sure that's an instant level 20, even if you halved it with whatever blend of excuses from them being starved and entrapped or w/e.
This is why RAW is a suggestion at best, and DM always has final say.
Like what if not all are vampires yet?
I was thinking the same thing. They would roll over towns like a plague and leave nothing but corpses and more vampires.
I told the Vampire Hunters there children were dead. Then i killed em. Then I used their children so allow my vamp companion to get more POWER!
Then the journal told me to go back and tell the vamp hunters i saved there children.....its stayed unfinished in my logs. Got to love bugs.
