People who have played Origin characters: is it worth it?
No spoilers, I just want a yes/no on whether it's that different from playing a custom character, and whether or not it's worthwhile to go for playthroughs as Origin characters.

EDIT: Dark Urge doesn't count. I'm talking about Astarion, Wyll, Gale, and so on.

The only upside I can think of playing origin characters is that you aren't stuck with a custom character in the party the entire time.

And have you actually played with an Origin character?

With Dark Urge it is most definitely worth it, he adds a lot to the story..

Well, that one doesn't really count, since it's an origin for a custom character. It's a great concept that I am loving the ♥♥♥♥ out of, but it's not the same as playing Wyll or Karlach.

Dark Urge has a funny story.

Everyone else is kind of meh.

Astarion probably has the best.

Dark Urge is worth it. It is pretty dark, especially if you lean into it instead of resisting. I played a too and fro approach, leaning in at time and less so later on. Was great.

Meeting Gales Cat is absolute worth it.
she is so cut and masterful done.

You definitely get more details for example for SH's Shar wound, you get the details of her visions. When you play as Gale you have more characters to interact with (won't spoil). I think it's a good think to play with them and also have them as comapnions. Also you can have their story without their caompanion's behaviour (hello Lae'zel that I always kill)

I played with Dark Urge and imo it is THE main protagonist of BG3, all the other companions feel like they are just side characters. Pretty glad I choose Dark Urge because I only have enough time for a single playthrough of this game.

So I don't really think it's worth if if you have time for only a single playthrough.

Heard a lot of people say that, so i might make it my third playthrough.

From what i know, it does make sense for it to be "the" real protagonist, considering... you know what and who.

original characters have tons of interactions with world. It is totaly fine to play custom char as long as you have original characters in party. But if you gater paty of four - you should play as original charaters for sure, otherwise you miss A LOT of content.

You can always respec and play Gale Barbarian or Karlah rogue. hell, you can have Astarion paladin - who cares?
Out of all these characters, only Dark Urge and Wyll appeal to me

Seems to be some minor differences more then major. More I would say is revealed with what ever character you play. Though majority of the dialogue and choices seem to be the same. Think It's worth doing if really like a specific character.

I wish they'd just integrated the extra material into the base game instead of locking a few scenes behind multiple origin playthroughs where you miss out on the voice acting and can choose to override what that character would actually do.
