My attempts to install any mods using only BG3ModManager ended up with broken NPCs and combat (couldn't start conversations, combat wouldn't trigger). After I gave up and added Mod Fixer, it started working like a charm.
My guess that only those who had Mod Fixer before Patch 1/2 can delete it, and for some reason it works for them.
If your cut scenes are getting hung up I have to ask a few questions/suggestions:
1.) Are you using Vulkan? While you get better performance frame-wise you'll experience a lot more bugs and crashes with it.
2.) Are you using mods? It sounds like you haven't really finished the game yet so I would assume you're running vanilla. BUT, if you are, remove all mods and try again.
3.) Mess around with graphics settings and update your drivers. I know this sounds silly, but a lot of people (particularly Nvidia users) are running into random issues with drivers and graphical settings with BG3.
4.) Be careful skipping dialogue because I've seen a lot of bugs/freezes/crashes/etc. with it.
5.) If none of those work: have you done a full reinstall of the game?
Interesting about your mod fixer situation. I wonder what mods you're using? Removing the mod fixer and the ImprovedUI (though I've heard it's more ImprovedUI than the mod fixer) cured the skill check stuff for me. Depending on some mods you have they can be dependent on the actual Mod Fixer itself when you technically don't need it anymore - you may want to check for some updates on your mods too because a lot of the modders have updated for Patch 2 in mind.
That's a strange one. Are you running mods or vanilla? I usually switch companions using the F1-4 keys, does that still cause the same issue? Also, if you run into the issue again see if you can bring your UI back up with F10.
The 60% issue can be a couple of things since patch 2. It seems the infinite save is not actually infinite but really freakin’ slow sometimes (us SSD users are spoiled). So there’s a few things there:
1.) Wait it out.
2.) Close and reopen BG3
3.) Switch to Vulkan (if you’re AMD) or DX11 if you’re on Vulkan
4.) If you have mods, flip some inactive till you find the culprit.
5.) Update your graphics card drivers
6.) Turn off FSR if you’re using an Nvidia card
7.) Go back to a different save to see if you can load that one and try either the same route to see if it fixes itself or do another. Some quest lines/choices still have quite a few bugs (Minthara is still buggy as all get-out).
A couple of my nitpicks (using controller):
- Scrolls with variants like summons, orbs must be set on a quick slot to use. Cannot be used from the inventory menu directly.
- Active toggle button on a quick slot messes up the popup order. Have to put it on the first radial.
- The button for Map shortcut is sometimes intertwined with the long-hold search button. When that happens, map shortcut only brings up an empty search result UI on the screen. It takes performing another long-hold search so that the result UI is no longer empty, then closing to untangle. It gets very annoying.
