change race?

I was told the ability to change your race in-game was going to be added, is there any truth to this?

At some point through the game people at random started referring to my human character as an evil Drow, so presumably you can and I am half way through the process.

I still feel like a human though so, eh...

A dev said they were working on character customization after starting the campaign, but they couldn't implement it in time for patches 1 or 2.

Now, whether they implement full on race swapping is up in the air, but if the feature is not in when they implement character modification, then most likely it means race choice will be permanent for the save.

A barbershop would be cool to change hair and beard, even more than that through magic, but I hardly see changing race or sex. It's not impossible in a game like BG3, but breaks the narrative.

You can use the deluxe edition helm to ‘disguise self’ and you will get all the lines and reactions of the new race you change into so in essence you can be whatever race you want at any point during your playthrough.
