Orphic Hammer disappears

Spoilers ahead for Dark Urge quest line…

So, after killing Orin and accepting the gift from Bhaal, Minsc immediately leaves the party. After leaving Bhaal’s temple you are forced to fight Jaheira and Minsc both of whom leave if you accept the gift. After taking them down <snif>, looting Minsc’s corpse he has on some of the gear he had that I put on him, but he is not holding the Orphic hammer, which now seems lost. Any ideas? I checked the traveler’s chest at camp but it’s not there.

Similar thing happened to me. Tried everything including a cheat engine to spawn it back in. Even with the item it still fails. You have to write off the 60+ hours put into the game and pick a different ending.

Reload from before you fight Orin, get your hammer back and then do the fight again. Or just finish the game out without Orpheus.
