Being seen while hiding
Why is it that NPCs can use their full action and bonus actions and then a dozen + checks to see if you''re hiding AND get to "cast" detect hidden presence or some ♥♥♥♥ to see if someone is invisible or hiding near them? Why cant the players do that? we get one chance yet an NPC can drag out their turn until they've found someone hiding.

I'm pretty sure this was added in to prevent stealth cheese from EA. I wish detect hidden was only used if the NPC couldn't see any enemies, but I understand why it's in the game.

sure but it shouldn't be a free action and as many checks as an npc wants. that's just retarded.

just play as a deep gnome with stealth proficiency bonuses. i am doing a dark urge invis cloak solo run now, enemies must have casted detect presence over a hundred times on me by now and i haven't been revealed once

One thing I can't figure out is if I steal something while invisible and don't break invisibility, how any kid can see me, know who I am, and report me to the guards by name, which then can arrest me, even if I am still invisible.

No. Role-play is about being able to play any option available, not being forced to play a particular build because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game-design.

This game is a bogus power-gamer feast. Your enemies will also get 2-3 attacks for your 1 attack. ALL OF THEM. Right now, I'm in the Counting House vault, and have 2 enemies left. None of my people seem to have Detect Presence, and the enemy are bogusly undetectable with my eye from Volo. Larian are the world's worst DMs.

Not really, even with the NPCs being invisible, they actually rarely move after and you can easily hit them with any of the following, if you remember where they were:
AOE spells
AOE arrows
Sweeping attacks
Grenades of any kind

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
