Baldur's Gate 3
Mac full release - what's the expected ETA?
Hello, any news about the Mac version? Can't find anything reliable on the web about it...

I bought Baldur's Gate 3 yesterday just because there was Apple icon next to the game and I've read that this is native Apple Silicon version. When I launched the game, it occurred that this is prerelease. I feel mislead by Steam/developer, maybe cheated even. I have MacBook M1 and would like to play final version as soon as possible. Does anyone know and can tell me one thing - when the final Mac release is here, will the game update automatically to it via Steam or will I need to uninstall the prerelease and install final version from scratch?

MacBook Pro M1 Max owner here. I am playing it fine via Steam using Crossover (bg3_DX11.EXE file to run game; Crossover Settings: DVXK, eSync, and High Resolution Mode set to on). I did not have to download any extra files or fiddle with any other settings. wish I knew this a few weeks ago. (have posted this elsewhere also)

The thing is, that I would vastly prefer not to get locked into playing the game through a resource hungry middleware just because the developer of the game is not communicating basic information like a release date. The game is potentially hundreds of hours long and one of the few games that will have a native release on mac. I'd prefer to play the native version rather than succumbing to impatience and accepting drawbacks like higher power consumption, potentially worse performance and bugs there will likely be no real fixes for down the line because they result from the emulation…

Not to mention the 75 bucks for 1 year CrossOver if you don't have it yet and don't want to setup their open source release in a terminal..
Performance on mac, specifically Act 3 probably going to be terrible.
I am primarily a PC gamer and a new MacBook Pro user; however, I haven't setup my main gaming rig due to moving to a new house and in the middle of remodeling it. I feel for all the Mac users now and see how poorly you all have been treated. The struggle is real...

I put off buying the PS5 version since I thought it would be released at the same time as the Mac ver. I did purchase the EA version on day one, but didn't realize the communication would be this bad from Steam and Larian for the Mac release. Oh well, I guess I will break down and buy the PS5 version to carry me over until I get either my PC setup or the Mac ver releases.

I second this and all those who have complained about the utter lack of communication on the Mac version. Even tho the game (which I paid for, played and got swiftly fed up with in EA) is a silly, turn-based, pale shadow of BG, BG2, IWD, PS:T etc and has about as much similarity to Baldurs Gate *as a game* as Space Invaders does to Minecraft.

Call it something else.
Starting to feel a little ripped off. It said nothing about it being a pre-release. The hype will be dead by the time we get it, all my PC friends have played several run throughs. Not going to be able to get a group together when it finally is released. But they've got my money so they aren't in a hurry, really sucks to pay $60+ for a demo.
Was tentatively scheduled for today (September 6) along with the Playstation release, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. "Any day now" is the current Mac status, as far as I know.
I guess I'll just chime in so I can follow the updates here. Since some of this was more informative that trying to follow the company. I was sad to wake up to no full release. But oh well. *waits with the rest of you*
Given the success BG3 had and the scale it is produced in and the number of people involved, it feels absolutley strange that there is no communication about one of the platforms it will be released on. Of course you can make jokes about mac gaming or state the fact that its only a small group. But for me that doesn‘t fit Larians policy and vibe they are creating. To me they seem quite inclusive. So I really wondere where this all comes from.
Yeah disappointing to not even have any comms on the release date. It does feel like an FU to Mac users who have paid their $$.
Very disappointed bought the game yesterday with the idea it was available for MAC after seeing the icon and reading several places 6 was the release date, now logging in I still see it's an early availability version.
