The thing is, that I would vastly prefer not to get locked into playing the game through a resource hungry middleware just because the developer of the game is not communicating basic information like a release date. The game is potentially hundreds of hours long and one of the few games that will have a native release on mac. I'd prefer to play the native version rather than succumbing to impatience and accepting drawbacks like higher power consumption, potentially worse performance and bugs there will likely be no real fixes for down the line because they result from the emulation…
Not to mention the 75 bucks for 1 year CrossOver if you don't have it yet and don't want to setup their open source release in a terminal..
I put off buying the PS5 version since I thought it would be released at the same time as the Mac ver. I did purchase the EA version on day one, but didn't realize the communication would be this bad from Steam and Larian for the Mac release. Oh well, I guess I will break down and buy the PS5 version to carry me over until I get either my PC setup or the Mac ver releases.
I second this and all those who have complained about the utter lack of communication on the Mac version. Even tho the game (which I paid for, played and got swiftly fed up with in EA) is a silly, turn-based, pale shadow of BG, BG2, IWD, PS:T etc and has about as much similarity to Baldurs Gate *as a game* as Space Invaders does to Minecraft.
Call it something else.
