MULTIPLAYER PROBLEM - Joining failed: players have different game versions. Please ensure you're update!

Good morning everyone, a friend and I have a big issue with multiplayer. Basically, when I create the session and she tries to connect, she always gets this message: "Joining failed: players have different game versions. Please ensure you're up to date!" On the other hand, if she tries to create the session and I attempt to join, her session crashes. We both have the same updated version of the game, and there are no other updates to install. Can you help us?

I had a friend over yesterday, we were planning on playing all weekend.

After spending 4 hours trying to get the game to work we gave up.

We each have a copy of the game, and each playing on different steam accounts and using different networks to connect. Still wouldn't work.

you mean from steam? She already did it, and we have no mods :/

Hm... You know, Steam and Mac have different versions because the Mac version has not been released yet. Because of that fact it is impossible to play together yet between Windows and Mac. The release date for Mac is rumored to be alongside the Playstation release for the 6th of September. Maybe the outlook is better by then.

Oh, now I can see the real problem...I thought that it was yet fixed. So from the 6th September this issues of the differents versions will be resolved? Is it right?

As soon as both of you have the same version, yes. You can check your game's version easily in the main menu at the bottom right corner. The numbers for you and your friend have to be identical.

I literally drove up to my buddies (1 hour away) to play on his other gaming PC (my own steam account with the game myself) and we cannot play now. Sucks. We've tried for about 1.5 hours to fix it.

We've played 20 hours from separate houses just fine.

We tried everything. Including the entire DNS flush, router reset, patch deletion, larian file deletion, etc.

WE FIXED IT!

We tried every reddit post and steam post. Finally we got it working. The only thing that worked for us was this.

1. Disable Steam cloud sync on both PCs (Host and Joining PC).
   
2. Delete the larian profile folder entirely on both PCs.
   
3. Launch the game on both PCs. The host PC won't have any games loaded (that's fine - you deleted your profile and cloud sync isn't on).
   
4. Joining PC leave your game open.
   
5. Host PC close your game.
   
6. Host PC renable Steam cloud sync.
   
7. Keep the Steam cloud sync disabled on the Joining PC.
   
8. Host PC launch the game. Click through the EULA again. You'll see your saved games there now.
   
9. Make sure under GAMEPLAY settings you have LAN and DIRECT connection off by default.
   
10. Host PC load your saved game.
    
11. Joining PC, go to Multiplayer, click the Friends option, refresh. You should see the Host PC game (make sure your steam friends of course). Join the game.

This is what works for us. We are on our own PCs, own steam accounts, Windows 10, same router (1 x wifi + 1 x ethernet)

Same here, I'm on a Mac and I had to manually modify the plist file and modify the name of the Profile Folder to join. The next day I had to verify the installation files to play because it wouldn't start. @Larian please find a workaround or at least release MAC & PC Patches at the same moment.

There are two workarounds.
How did you manage to post on so many threads with the same topic but not find them???
