Ancient Forge not lowering

So I've read there is a lot of bugs with the Adamantine Forge, but I cannot find a solution to my specific problem with it.
I place the mithril into the crucible, the shield mold into the mold slot, then click the lever to lower the platform.
There's the big hammer hits forge animation and.... nothing. Platform won't go down so I can start the lava flowing and my mithril is gone too.
Did anyone experience the same, found a solution or am I missing a critical step somewhere?
