The pixie (Spoilers)
Most of you probably already know. But I saw someone outside of steam asking and confused so I thought I would mention:

The Easiest way to get through the shadow lands is with the pixie blessing. I think many people know this.

What I think people forget, even on their second play-through, is that you do not release the pixie via a 'right click' action or an 'examine'.

oddly, you have to use a special moon lantern action that is like a weapon special action that you are proficient in on your action bar.

I get MOST of you already know this. But I have seen enough people confused to know ....it needs to be clarified.

Ironically, many people most confused are on their second play-through. And, hey, I get it.

What action? There is a dialogue directly after combat when you pick Dolly up that resolves it.

Yeah, you can release her in the dialogue already. It is also way better than going straight for the Last Light Inn fight, since I save that one pretty much for last, before I go for the Nightsong. A lot of the side quests in Act 2 will influence who is there for the fight in the Inn.

I just instantly had a cutscene and was given dialog option to release the pixie. I knew there would be a way the pixie would help you for releasing it so i just did. and it is so much better than carrying around a lantern having the blessing.
Also, I obtained the lantern by fighting that certain group myself. instead of meeting up with the ones that had the lantern, I went to the house where a certain ambush is suppose to happen but I ended up fighting the group with lantern myself and got the lamp myself.
That was nice because it gave me the lantern without ever having been at the Inn. I got it before going to the Inn and was able to travel wherever I wanted without even meeting that certain person at the Inn.

No, not always.

In 4 playthroughs I have not had it fail once.

No, not always. For instance if you make certain deicison I will not spoil that the moon lantern is handed to you

Well, try the one where the dryder is your friend and you betray them and the Cleric Isobel winds up giving you the moonLantern. It does not happen 'automatically;

What is with this forum and it being full of a bunch of spoiled little brats who think they know everything yet don't know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?

In my playthrough I got the moon lantern from Balthazaars room. This was because I was trying to side with the Absolute (I guess - I just like goblins lol so I sided with them) and the spider guy was an ally for a time.

My friend played "good" and got it from the spider guy I think he said, but the pixie inside he told me had such an awful voice and manner of speaking that he trapped it back inside the moon lantern to be tortured and killed slowly and painfully.

I can't speak from experience on that one though, but when I eventually killed the spider dude in my own game he dropped a functional moon lantern and I didn't see hide nor hair of the pixie. Didn't find an examine option either.

So you're saying you have to actually use an ability from your hotbar? I have everything set to never automatically appear on the hotbar, which is possibly why I missed it. I'll remember that for my next playthrough though, cheers!

One day I'll find out why my friend thought the pixie was so abhorrently awful that he made his noble Paladin chad torture it to death in a lantern, lol.

If you've liberated her, you've to use it in your inventory if you wanna pop the pixie dialogue again.
Liberating her does prevent the need to manage the lantern.

No need to get offensive :)

Yeah, you get a little fairy bell, right? Something like that. Think I heard about it somewhere, one of my friends mentioned it. Sounds very useful. It was a pain in the ass having Lae'zel carry the lantern around, but she was able to still kick ass with it being a Fighter, but her damage definitely took a knock.

I never got any options myself to liberate her automatically when collecting the lantern from spider guys corpse, but I was pretty much at the end of Act 2 by then, so I assumed that's why it didn't happen. I didn't realise it was possibly a hotbar action.

That means there's potentially two fairies you could save, maybe?

Also, Gale offered to profane the moon lantern I had already by using fairy corpses present in a room in Balthazaars bedroom, but I didn't go through with that. What does profaning the lantern do, if you know? Just curious - it's not likely I'll ever take the "evil" route again, so I probably won't get the chance to find out.

I don't remember how it pops, i think just by using the lantern in your inventory and talking to it.

For you to discover :)

Profaning the lantern adds a capability (ability to launch a spell). I made bit but didn't used it, i was at the end of ACT 2 at that point.

A spell. Is it a unique spell or is it like, a spell you can just get from a scroll or whatever? I found there to be a lot of rewards for stuff ending up being a spell you can just cast anyway easily enough. I don't know if that's a DnD thing though, probably is.

Thanks!

Next time I play I'll see if I can still free those fairies despite being in Act III, lol.
