I still can't believe that's still a thing in DnD, who finds that fun? You're already limited to your spell usage by charge slot costs, you then also are required to burn an item to cast it as well? It's like the makers of DnD don't want people playing spell casters at all by making them the most tedious they possibly can.
its very different to have your party member always have an answer to a problem, vs your party member being prepared for a potential problem with and answer and deploying it.
it is sad that a lot of people dont take into account the verbal/somatic stuff, just action capability
I mean if you're gonna roleplay, then do it. All strength based classes now require the consumption of massive amounts of protein and carbohydrates to stay "FUELED!" for fighting. Dexterity classes now require spending multiple hours a day practicing their skillsets and consuming more food for "FUEL!" to stay on their A game. Those backpacks now only increase your hold capacity by what an actual bag would hold.
Its for balance purposes to stop you from non stop spamming powerful spells all the time
If you didn't need the diamond for revivify then death becomes a trivial thing, with zero consequence
this too. imagine if revive scrolls didnt exist and you could just revive everyone after every fight. or heal them without consumption(you can and people do)
