Having damage reduction doesn't help your party though. A fighter of a similar level can be the 'frontline'. Seems silly to center your party around the notion of having a martial that takes slightly less damage on average.
I mean, enjoy your damage reduction in a game that gives you infinite resources and consumables. No one is stopping you from enjoying it.
My rogue barbarian can tank a lot and still do significant amount of damage.
Sneak attack on Sentinel Attacks is pretty funny, even though the turn based reset seems to be a bit buggy here.
Either way, a dip into Fighter 2-4 levels will do your Barbarian good.
Early game Eagle Heart is both a blast and stupid OP. Pick up the https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/suy99q/the_speedy_lightfeet/ (blighted village) and you can spam dash as a bonus action with Eagle heart. Combine with https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Hamarhraft for awesome 'off the top ropes' attacks. Then top if off with https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Fleetfingers for even more jumping fun.
Late game (6-7ish) Tiger heart will pull ahead due to bleed stacking, additional damage from bleeds, and maim which allows you to actually tank.
Especially eagle heart -> Aspect of the Stallion -> Aspect of the Elk.
Eagle Heart + aspect of the stallion is a massive boost to quality of life and survival.
Your barbarian can dish death from above, putting enemies prone AND attack in the same turn (therefore, it’s basically a guaranteed hit). Aspect of the Stallion grants you temporary hit points every time you dash, and eagle heart gives you dash as a bonus action. Consequently, you can dash, attack and restore life points in a single turn.
It’s a tankish setup, which imo is great for a barbarian played as DPS /aggro hybrid, who is the vanguard of the party.
I am currently playing a 2nd character that started brb1 and then went Storm Sorcerer. The flight after casting is killer! Specially when being attacked from above. ;)
I swapped out a couple companions just to switch up the interactions and gave Karlach the Elk Primal Stampede. She will go to +4 STR bonus next level so IMHO 5-8 damage isn't all bad when applied to several targets, and the Elk also boosts her speed, putting more in range. I am hoping that her d4 Infernal fire damage will also apply but I just got that option fixed up...
I think she is going to be a ton of fun vs. the Goblins of Blighted Village & the Temple!!!
I was excited about Berserker cuz Extra Attack? Hell YEAH!!
But those -1 strain stacks render it useless kinda quickly
