The game autosaves before any tough area, which seems perfectly reasonable. I wouldn't object to it saving on going to a new zone too, but as I spam f5 far too much anyway, it doesn't really affect me.
don't expect this to become a feature, and I would be wary of modders adding it in. it WILL likely break saves unless said modder really understands the mechanics involved. much more likely you will have to take 10 minutes to get used to the idea you need to save regularly yourself. you can manually set how many quicksaves you have in your list even. by default it sets it at 25 before it starts recycling them, but you can set it much higher or lower.
I would have expected it to start overwriting auto saves after reaching the predefined limit, but it just doesn't do that. It just stops.
You have to manually delete your auto saves. Then it fills up more auto saves up to the predefined limit again.
Clearly, not working as intended.
Auto save are just there as a warning for a big fight/decision ahead.
You yourself is supposed to managed your game with quicksaves as failsafes and hardsaves if you want to go back to a very early state of your progression. As always it's less kid friendly but it's more rewarding.
Auto Save is completely broken.
It does not save anymore if you filled them all up.
The expectation is that it will override other autosaves, but it doesn't do that.
If you set your autosave to == 9
You will never get a 10th auto save.
It just doesn't do it.
So when the game was auto saving at the end it was a lie? Ok... in act 3 i could feel when it saves because everything froze a little. But you're telling me if froze but didn't do anything?!
I'm calling my lawyer.
