Can also just jump it with a leap potion or the jump spell.
Just watched my niece do this and it worked fine.
Well put. You still have to have a "landing" target to move to while flying, just like when jumping. If you pick such target that is death, you'll die despite supposedly "flying". It's probably akin to misty step as well in this regards.
Also, make sure your character is not Encumbered. After you cast the Fly spell, you have to actually activate it using the new icon on the far right of your skill bar.
Good Luck
Yes it doesn't seem right, but can you imagine the dev's having to worry about (aka code) players flying in 3D space in any part of the map like superman? Most of the map is background/cosmetic, not actual space to move through.
tbf, DnD doesnt really support polymorph like Divinity original sin does. Fly also worked exactly the same in D;OS2; Use polymorph: Wings, then it gave you an ability to use the fly action.
I looked in the hotbar. There is nothing new there. I'm getting really sick and tired of having to search for things that should automatically work. If I have cast flight on someone, their movement should automatically fly. It is Flying for Dummies, but Larian seem not to be intelligent enough to implement something simply.
