Yes.
I've found 5ed/BG3 rogues quite subpar, "stealthy" gameplay don't really work and isnt efficient unless you go full "hidden machinegun" build, which is not fun to me
And they don't have anything else where they shine, everyone can use scrolls and magical items, fighters hit harder, etc
Do you want me or rather someone else to tell you that you might have missed something there? Stealth gaming is quite rewarding when done right. My Halfling Bard is a power to behold which gives me headaches because I do not want to like Bard, but the game makes it far TOO COMFORTABLE to like Bard with their superpowers.
To make up for this, I would suggest having a high DEX, Guidance readily on hand, and the Gloves of Power(?), I think they're called, that give a +1 to Sleight of Hand.
That can make it up for not having a Rogue, but having expertise is always nice.
There are gloves which give advantage on sleight of hand checks. I consider that one more powerful for traps and locks.
I can't do sh#t in stealth unless staying far out of sight and shooting 1 arrow/turn, and often LoS is blocked, distance is too far etc
Sure it also works on engaged enemies but my fighters don't need help most of the time
But you do know, that stealth is not just about staying out of enemies' line of sight, yes?
A good stealther can just go pass that undetected.
Hell, I laughed so much when I went stealing stuff and the guard came and looked more than thrice directly at my character but could not see them due to the size. The guard even had a torch!
Yeah pickpocketing is fun at start, but soon there's nothing worth stealing you can just buy it...
