Overgrown tunnel, difficulty

I am level 4...had a 60-minute fight in the overgrown tunnel.

I was flying around with Gale as a gas cloud...and got scared because he could fly through the fireplace at the hag's house.

First, I did not know what to do so I put on whispering masks with all my party...thinking I could fight the hag in another dimension...my party killed themselves...

Loaded my save game...and had to fight against the minions...it took 60 minutes...

Is this fight too difficult for level 4 heroes? I suck at fighting...aoe damage, but one of the enemies resisted fire...I was downed all the time, had to use potions, nothing worked...command -> drop your weapon...did not do anything as the enemy cast spells without a weapon. :D

After 60 minutes I finally won...but lost 2 of my heroes...hopefully, Withers can resurrect them both WITH all items...if not, I have to redo the whole fight.

Is this a fight for higher-levels?[[spoiler]

I dont know how to use steam spoilers. But only one person needs to wear the mask to pass the door, depending on who or what you talked to in the cave. Everyone needs a mask to bypass the minions. As for fighting her minions...the "fear" one can be an issue but aside from that, scouting and positioning can help. Use turn based to allow yourself to get into position.

I was irritated with this scenario because one of them isnt totally mental and you can tell her to leave, but she stays put and helps fight against YOU, her savior (i had already killed the Aunt). So i just rolled my eyes at larian and killed them all.

I never used the masks myself. First time killed auntie straight away, second time you can use a different method to get past the door, then killed them all

You dont really need the mask, click the shield next to the wall to convince him to let you through. I dont think its even solid so without talking you should be able to get through. For the hag, having a few companion with magic missile can save you from the trouble of finding the real hag. Especially since they spam hold person.

Or just pan the camera around and click to have your guys walk through the illusion the door is?

Thanks. I have a problem with fights in general...it is a guessing game what spell is good...more than 1 minion cast fear spells that dealt 20 damage etc....and my party members could not move.

I have yet to find out how to use Shadowheart...apart from the armor spell and heals...she only has the weak 1-8 damage spell, a crossbow and spear.

Maybe I should use "Examine" to get to know strengths and weaknesses of enemies.

Fights range from easy to fatal, e.g. I fought the gnolls...and one of them exploded with a deadly gas that killed two party members. It was some kind of necrotic gas...another party member stepped in it after winning the fight and died too...
I loaded the fight again and it was easy this time.

Knowing your enemy definitely matters in this fight. The one that does a big revenge hit whenever you hurt them can be a right pain, first time I went in they were closest to me so I had everyone surround them and attack them - terrible tactics, everyone died.

Second time I had someone in stealth next to the fear spamming one when the fight started and they went down like a sack of spuds. Fight felt a lot easier.

If you don't want to use stealth to set up they'll also let you move around freely if you're wearing the masks. Casting protection from evil and good on yourself prevents the mask taking over your mind.

I loaded the fight again and it was easy this time.

Right click and hit examine or on controller target and hit X then select examine. You examine every object and NPC in the game. It will tell an absurd amount of detail on how to kill them.

Thanks! Yes, I never used examine. :( Oil barrel -> fire -> boooom just to find out the minion resists fire

Have you considered that pursuing a hag into it's lair may be slightly outside the abilities of your level 4 party?

Yes, but I won the fight nonetheless...and according to some guide, it is for level 4 chars.

For level 4 chars and for your level 4 chars are not necessarily the same thing.

I did it at level 4, I don't think that's underleveled at all, and I bet players have beaten it at lower level still.

I didn't even know I was supposed to wear a mask, but I was able to get through the door with speech checks.

I went in with my warlock main, Astarion, Shadowheart and Lae'zel. Used drow poison on Astarion's bow which put the hag to sleep. Dealt with adds (Gale with magic missile would have been great here but who knew?).

Focused on hag after the adds and she went down in a couple rounds. Final blow was warlock eldritch blast which overcooked it and so I didn't get her offer, but whatever. She's done.

Look in your inventory and use all that crap you've been hauling around. Wyvern poison, drow poison, scrolls. It's not as hard as it might appear at first glance, or first try if you use all of your tools

This part is annoying...how should you know what to do? Poison everywhere...I tried water, does not work. Fire does not work either. After trying for 30 minutes I looked up the solution.

But...cannot find the vent. Pressing A or the right stick does not reveal it....and Shadowheart keeps failing perception rolls.

ROFL...I jumped on to a bridge, perception failed again and again, but finally saw a vent with the disarm text. I pressed A without seeing where the vent is... Shadowheart ended up walking and climbing 100 miles through all traps and died.
