Asterion approval
I'm on my 4th playthrough and for the first time I have Asterion in my party but I going down the good path which he disapproves of. Is there any way to get his approval without being evil or upsetting my other companions?

It's not too hard to toe the line once you know what to do. You can be a good guy and get approval, just be somewhat of a snide cocky ass, just like arstorian. Trial and error may be needed for some of his dialogue, should definitely play a character with high charisma if you're worried about it though. Quite a few dialogues where you can "help" sway his views. I actually like the good version of Arstorian way more than bad guy, takes all game for him to get there but worth it. kind of....

Not from what I've seen. But it's more fun to go down the good path and continuously piss him off.

There are some choices that lead to Astarion approval but not disapproval from others, and those choices aren't (very) evil. You gotta find those.

It IS annoying though, so if it bothers you, just google and use zanzer's cheat engine table to automatically give yourself +100 approval with Astarion and continue making good decisions he will disapprove of without much consequence.

Kinda, but you have to do some questionable stuff, and you really don't want ANY disapproval from him(remove him from party or unchain him and move him away from your party when you are trying to do GOOD), I have Astarion's approval at 91, and I'm half way through the lower city, and I haven't done his personal quest yet.
Edit: I also romanced him, and I think that's a +5 approval? but I made him suck someone, and he break up with me, you could lose a lot of approval this way, unless you choose the right option, then he just break up with you without any disapproval.
BUT the game's script then went haywire, and forgot what my relationship stats, and tries to pair me up with gale and failed, because.
How can you tell what approval rating you have with companions?

Try a Baal servant playthrough, where its all about death and sacrifice.
Then astarion will be maxed out on rep with you

vague pragmatism goes a long way: just ask for a reward and in general respect his needs.

I'm in act 1 and playing a good / neutral character, and I have high approval with him. All the guides make t seem like you have to be downright evil to woo him, hut honestly you just have to be kind of a ♥♥♥♥♥ sometimes and back him up when he needs it.

If you look at reddit there's some handy guides for specific approval encounters and how to trigger extra cut scenes (this one in particular hits a lot of points in the comments https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/q7fdhc/astarion_cutscenes/ )

It helps to have him in the number 2 of your party, as apparently party order helps determine whose cut scenes show when they trigger multiple at once. Hopefully they will implement an easier way to get these to show though as right now it feels like I'm playing 4D chess just to get him to tell me about a dream he had lmao

If you want his aproval to go up you should create a "good" party and a "bad" party for important dialog moments.

Minthara, Lea'zel and Astarion will approve of rough and inhuman decisions, they will revel in merciless actions. If you follow that path you will end up with other allies in the end as well, as there certainly are "bad" ones too. It does make not make a difference in supportive effort in the end battle though, although i much prefer Mizora over Lady Aylin.

The rest are the good guys approving of good deeds and merciful decision. Don't mix these characters if you want them all to improve in standing.

You can always make him sit at camp while doing things he wouldn't approve of.

You can also split the party and have him sit just outside the spawn range. I do this with Karlach too when I am making questionable choices lol

Asterion is evil, make evil decisions and he'll approve.

There are a lot o neutral and non-baddie things you can do to get approval up on Astarion.

Many cut scenes you just have to indicate you trust him. So when he wants to stand guard, say that you trust him. Bite scene, let him bite you. Next day, say you trust him when the party members start condemning him as a vampire. Pocket the ring from the tiefling kid when he is doing his trick. In the Putrid Bog (this is only if you see through the illusion of the sunlit wetlands) baa x 2 at the red caps. Tell Raphaels you would be insane to take a deal from the devil. At the barn, speak to who is inside then when trying to open the door, let Astarion open the door. Feed the owlbear cub at your camp. He also tends to approve of interactions where you attack first rather than try and hash things out with bag guys.

The biggest jumps in approval that I noticed are really the bite scene and the following day. My approval jumped up a pretty good chunk.

I technically wouldn't classify Astarion as evil. I find him more neutral oriented. He actually sometimes agrees with some good aligned options.

Somehow i managed to get him "Good" by being decietfull or forcefull against my enemies, not having him around when i have to be nice, being supportive of his situation and saying BAA to some sheep.

One "neutral" trick is to answer "sorry I'm busy" when someone asks for help, in almost every case you get the quest to help anyway and Asterion approval.

I honestly never tried for his approval as I always romance Gale but Astarion always wants my character at the party and I always end up with high approval from him just by making snyde comments occassionally to people. There are a few scenes like when you meet Auntie Ethel in grove you can get approval easy from that encounter from Astarion. Also the one encounter in the Grove prison if you just do nothing then choose appropriate dialog when you talk to Astarion after he approves but noone else disapproves .
