Warlock, 2 spells, and short rest?!
I'm using Wyll, and he can only cast 6 spells a long rest? Or am I doing something wrong?

Seems kinda underpowered compared to the divine spellcasters or wizard and sorc.

Warlock is all about Eldritch Blast. Spells are just a bonus.

Not underpowered in the slightest.

You're clearly new to CRPGs / DnD.

Warlock is very powerful. You have limited spell slots, but the spells you cast are always cast at the highest level available. And you get them back per short rest.

With just 3 5th level spell slots that's a potential 9 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 5th level fireballs you can cast in a day or the equivalent. A normal caster could cast 2 of those in a day around the same level.

A normal spell caster has a lot more utility, but Warlocks can go into any fight and just blow ♥♥♥♥ up. Have a rest, and be ready to do it all over again.

Even when you run out of spell slots, your main cantrip, Eldritch blast gets huge bonuses as you level up making it basically a force damage scorching ray (scorching ray being Fire damage, one of the most resisted damage types, and a level 2 spell slot.)
You get that as a CANTRIP. unlimited uses. and force damage is rarely resisted,

Warlocks have less spells although some might be considered powerful. They are Charisma class which means they mesh well with multi-class. Their cantrip can be upgraded both in their own class and in sorcerer. Because it has multiple rays it can be boosted by abilities which boost per attack. There are also items which boost warlock in the game.

Make sure you take the ability that adds CHA to Eldritch Blast and spam that. They play a lot more like a ranged fighter than a traditional spellcaster.

Probably stronger in BG3 than in tabletop, since I think most actual tables average one or zero short rests per adventuring day rather than two (or three, with BG3's version of Song of Rest).
Ok. I'm used to having utility and tactical gameplay with my casters. My only experience with a "warlock" class is the pathfinder variants of witch or magus.

I just felt I was doing something wrong with it being a caster and 1-click done damage xD.

Weapon attacks felt too weak too compared to ranger, rogue and paladin :X.

Funnily, I have used a boosted WB to ledge kill a mob!

They are magic archers, not casters. Lay down a potential huge impact single spell per fight, something that tips scales or offers crowd control, then shoot away.

hex spellslot or darkness (devils eye) + eldritch blast.

That's a great way to conceptualize them. Treat them as "archers!" Thank you.

warlocks get less leveled spells then others, but get a few interesting ones.

in turn, eld blast is one of the best cantrips in 5e.

they are the closest thing casters get to "melee basic attack" types.

Do keep in mind all warlock spell slots are always of the max level, when you're level 5 you get 2 lvl 3 slots per short rest, potentially casting 6 fireballs per long rest, how many can a sorc or wiz of that level cast?

But yeah, they aren't like the other casters, they will use less spells, in general, but they also get a free, strong lower tier damage dealer in the form of EB, which also can be used for utility (knockback) and they can do some interesting stuff, like hitting targets just like a regular martial class, with double attacks and +5 bonus from their casting stat, or get dark vision in magic darkness then use it as cover in combat where nobody else can see crap.

That's so wrong it's alarmingly funny how little people know about 5e and why we have this watered down 5e.

Warlocks are all about the blast and using one of their aoe spells for their spell slots.

All it takes is one well places aoe spell like cloud of daggers. The rest of the slots are nice to have, but when you have Pact of the Blade and Eldritch Blast invocation you can keep up with other casters quite well. They even get extra attacks like martials if they are pact of the blade. And then their AC can be excellent if they multiclass to get armor proficiencies.
