Lvl 13 or 14 should be the cap - not 12!
I have only explored about 15-25 percent (I believe) of Act 3 and I have already hit the level cap. I think it's a bit silly to only have a cap of 12 and yet have so much content left to go through and have all the exp basically be worthless (I did install a mod that allows me to lvl up more to prevent this)

And no...I have not been a murder hobo or anything like that. I am just the type of player who checks every inch of the map and makes sure to (or, at least try) to complete every quest, interaction, or relevant thing to do in the game. Anyone else feel the same way? Or, is it just me? Like I said...I feel like 12 is just far too low with all the content they gave us...

The issue with going past 12 is you start getting into demigod territory with character power. Max cap at 12 is fine

The good thing is, it means you get to spend plenty of time at the level cap, as opposed to some games where you hit the level cap maybe just in time for the final boss fight.

In Solasta you could get to the end and still not be max level.

I think Larian did it right, so you're not trying to eek out more XP just to enjoy more time at max level.

you can always mod it

Yeah, no. 13+ DnD is just something else entirely.

Exactly. What's the point of having a max level if you don't even get to use it?

I have to admit I would so very much like to see level 13 and the spells, 12 is such an unfortunate number to stop at with DnD, much like. But here we are and it is still great.

I do think the progression of levels is skewed, by the time you hit max you very likely still have 1/4th a game to go through, making exploration and such a bit more underwhelming than it should, but the level cap is fine.

tbf, my ocd is what makes me hate 12 being the cap, want it to be a multiple of 5

Hey, it could've been worse, 12 is at least nicely even, 11 or 14 would really bother me. But.... let's not get into this. :D

exactly, my solution was just modding it out like i suggested :laughing_yeti:

I guess they could have done like with baldurs gate 2. Where you would stop getting new things, but just get tiny improvements with each level.

That's actually true, I forgot about that.

You start to get choices like : extra spell slot, or whirlwind strike for fighters on level up.

yes that was added with the expansion I believe. But when you got into high level you would only get tiny improvements. Some classes hit it way earlier than others.
Still it feels better than not getting any new level at all.

Level 8 would be a better cap, 12 is too high for encounters they throw at you, or maybe 11

Nah, I don't like it when you finally finish your build and the game is basically over, so you don't get to use it.

Need stuff to do at level cap; the game can't just be over once you reach it.
