Tolna's office [Act 3 spoilers]

Hi all,

I'm in Sorcerous Sundries, talking to Tolna the Tome-Monger. She revealed that access to the vault is through her office, but I can't figure out how to get there.

Hiding, lockpicking the door doesn't work, the guards catch me even if I talk to them with another char to distract them.
Can't pickpocket Tolna either, she's always in someone's line of sight, and when I position Astarion in the shadows he still gets caught.
Obviously, I don't want to massacre the entire place.
What am I missing?

her office is on the second floor. there is a key in the office on the desk.

then you use a book on the bookshelf and it opens.

Walk upstairs, crouch in front of them to turn them away from the door, then lockpick the door.

How do I get access to the office though?

Lockpick it while invisible. Also you can access the area with tomes from different place after progressing nightsong quest a little.

you can also cast darkness around the door that should help

you can also jump down from the third floor to enter it another way. try to explore and investigate.

Ah, this helped, thank you. I was able to enter while Invisible.

A bit silly though isn't it, like, I'd expect my stealthy rogue to be able to slip by just as fine. Anyhow, looks like there's absolutely no point in levelling Stealth/Lockpick when I can just Invis and Knock everything anyway, and more reliable. Good to find out at lvl 9... ^^

Casting Darkness was also a great tip, I should use that spell more often. It's just... idk somehow these are not very intuitive, e.g. I'd expect the entire place to come at me if I start casting an aoe spell... /shrug

If you get the door open with sneak lock picking but keep getting caught entering.

Get a wizard with the transport gate spell, I forget the name. But it creates two portals you can travel through. Put one outside the office and one inside.

Use the portal to get in. The back of the office and office wall are out of line of sight of the robot guard even if they're looking in through the door.

You can turn base mode move your party around the cone of vision and get to the vault.

I entered the offic with all my group. Disguise your best rogue using a scroll or magic. Spread your group and left only your rogue inside the shop. Steal the key from Tolma and send it to other member. Go outside and undisguise the rogue. Enter again in the shop and go up.
Put you rogue in invisibility and open the door with the key (magic pocket) and enter the room till more furthest side. If you have more companions with invisibility, repeat. I have Karlach and me inside the office using invisibility. Gale and Shadow were ouside. As door is open, use dimensional door to enter the room and close the door. I worked for me. All my group was inside the room.

You'll end up in that room by just following the main quest as Sorcerous Sundries. After the boss fight on top of the tower, you jump down the floors and do the puzzle with the barriers and buttons to get to the vault - then you warp out of the vault into the main office, so you can just leave from the outside without ever needing to lockpick or do stealth.

Use Scroll of Greater Invisibility. They won't see.
