It turns out the Hag's Bane doesn't work at times, so you'll have to save her thru other means, w/c is what i had to do. I dunno why that is but this game is odd.

Throw the Hags Bane on her before combat starts and you will get a cut scene where she releases the child. I had Asterion sneak in to the room and toss the hags bane on her. It did have a low chance to hit though, so you might have to reload once or twice.

That's what I did. I didn't even find this Hag's Bane potion until later.

Hag's Bane has a high chance to miss so you gotta CC her first, better to just beat her up

I figured out. Just throw the Hag's Bane at her (you must not miss), then switch to non lethal attack. On any character, go to the Passive submenu at the bottom of your hub and select non lethal attack. With non lethal attack selected, knock her out using your weapon. It will give you the option to cut her belly and Vanra will be alive.

Knocking her out to cut the kid out of her is what did it, not the potion. The potion is supposed to make her vomit the kid out right away.

Don't need hags bane. Like Maronchan said, just toggle on non-lethal attacks. Get the hag unconscious.

Then talk to her body - it allows you to cut the kid out. I had this bugged so had to reload a save to get the talk option!

Same here. Its maybe it dont work anymore AFTER Patch2? She spites the Kid out, but stil dead.

You don't need hags bane if you just knock Ethel out.
Killing Ethel will kill the child.

From what I've seen this seems to be a patch 2 issue as most report it working fine before but not working now. I got to this fight last night and had hags bane just not work at all. using it from inventory had the pop up CAN'T USE THIS NOW. Before and during the fight.
Throwing it with the throw action also had no effect.

Just leave at least one of the mushrooms in her room alive, non lethal knock her out and you get a cutscene to C-section the kid. Kid will run away. Ethel will wake up.

Then you can just destroy the mushrooms that are left and can crit smite Ethel's face in like normal.

EDIT; leaving the mushrooms alive might even be optional if you're knocking her out. I just left them up for safety.

Thx. I Try the Non LEthal Method aggain and it works for me.
Maybe i do it wrong first time i try it.

yeah this bug needs to be fixed, going through all the trouble of removing the hex, reading the book, and crafting the Hags Bane just for it to be useless is pretty annoying.

I threw it near her, it worked. However, first thing I did was have Astarian, who was first in the initiative queue, fog her, she essentially gets stuck in place and can't dimension jump, so she was stuck in the fog retching up a bellyfull of arms and legs.
