Let Hag go without Oathbreaking?
Playing as a Paladin of Vengeance. Is there a way to let the Hag go without breaking the oath. Usually, you can select which party member has a conversation but it seems the Hag always talks to the main PC, unless I'm doing it wrong.

Thanks.

If it's anything like DOS 2 (and it is in a lot of cases) the party member who gets talked to is the one closest to the character who initiates the dialogue.
So just park a non-paladin character near the hag when you think she's gonna want to make a deal.

There's a setting you and switch on and off for this. Forgot what it was but I know it's there.

Worst case scenario, respec your PC to a non paladin class, fight her again, then respec back to paladin

I hope the answer to this is no. Vengeance Paladin has exactly one job: Not letting evil go. If there's a way to cheese the game and keep your oath while breaking it, you probably shouldn't, for immersion.

Auto select character after combat? Gonna try that.

Why play a vengeance paladin in the first place if you can circumvent what makes them a vengeance paladin? Just take the hit and pay the 1k to renew your oath.

Don't play paladin if you don't want to follow your oaths, or become oathbreaker.
Clonedpickle Aug 31, 2023 @ 3:55pm
No, you will always oathbreak as one of the tenets of the oath is show no mercy to the wicked.

Nope. She still talks to my main.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Fight the Greater Evil.
No Mercy for the Wicked.
By Any Means Necessary.

These be the oaths of vengeance. Fulfill your oath, and show no mercy for that wicked hag.

Yep, that did it. I pulled back my main before the last hit and she spoke to Gale who was closer.

Thanks.

What do you get for letting her go?
Quvano Aug 31, 2023 @ 4:26pm
+ 1 Stat to any character

+1 to any of your ability scores. Permanently.

But you don't get her loot, which was ok but nothing I was going to keep.
