Killing spider's while a cleric of Lolth...
I know I am going to hell but at this point I'm not sure which side of the rack I will be on. I've killed a few spiders and I'm nervously waiting for the shoe to drop on me. I did manage to bring a few wayward 8 legged souls back into the faith but that hardly makes up for the matricide I committed in the whispering depths, nor the eggs I smashed.
So... uh, I haven't heard many other people freaking out but is Lolth's hell real in BG3? I know that paladins will suffer consequences for oath breaking flags but if I get off free for my sacrilege there ought to be some expanded features to my affront in the future.
I LOVE the book series "War of the Spider Queen" and was hoping BG3 would dip into the religious paranoia of the drow. Converting spiders was definitely a treat so far but I did commit a big nono. Those phase spiders are gonna tattle in hell.

Spiders are sacred and all. But isn't Lolth all about power to the strongest?

I'm pretty sure she don't give a ♥♥♥♥. Spiders kill other spiders in nature.

From what I've heard/read the Underdark is so damn FULL of spiders that's its pretty inevitable every Drow will kill some, maybe even every day.
If your Cleric has not woken up in camp chewing on the remains of your party in the form of a Drider, I'd say you are good with her.

While 'speak with animals' let's you talk with even the small spiders (and other small things) I think its only the larger minds (maybe 'intellect's?) spiders she will be worried about.
Also, its dog eat dog (or spider eats spider) down there.
If one of the 8legs dies to another, or is not smart enough/strong enough/quick enough to avoid the Boot (butt...sword...crunchy dinner roll) of one of her bigger children (even the Drow are her children) then they still serve her purposes one way or another.

I think you would have to go goody goody, betray your goddess and murder yourself at least a high priestess or champion to get swatted, transformed or generally loose her favour.

I always though her 'Spider Queen' was related to her ability to cursing a Drow with a half-spider form as punishement. And not...you know, being the Queen of all Spiders everywhere.

There is that too, but it might be that spiders everywhere know her, one way or another.
Like how Tiamat and Bahamut are the gods of chromatic and metallic dragons everywhere (but are known in the Krynnish realms as Takhisis and Paladine)
The same gods, just different names.
So, maybe all spiders know her, just by their own name, depending on reality and realm.

Plus, its her form. Generally, I mean.
She will often appear to be a beautiful Drow Matriarch when wanting to convert, seduce or otherwise go quietly somewhere, but if she wants to scare or cause fear, it's the spider from the waist down, striking but scary Drow from the waist up.
Its a god/goddess thing, they love to change shape and disguise themselves.
