How does Shar's Secret Path trial work?
I've been here with two groups already, and each time I fumble through by drinking a vaulting potion or flying over or something like that. Or I have visual glitches somehow telling me where the stable ground is...

I have no idea what the 'concept' here is. I get indiana jones vibes, but no clue how this is designed.

So assume you're explaining it to a child. How is this supposed to be solved 'properly'?

You just need to jump from platform to platform and miss the blue 'send back to start' areas on each platform.

Split your party. Pick one person. Click to the end part of the trial near the gem you are supposed to pick up so you can walk there. Your character will just walk all the way there. No, this is not a joke.
To be even more sure, when you are right next to the final ledge, you can stop and jump - there is a small chance your character may stop/drop right before that ledge.

You can Dimension Door to just go to the back platform.

But properly you can use light to show the path.

There are invisible paths you can walk on between the platforms.
The mosaic on the floor near the start is a map showing how the paths are laid out.

You're meant to memorise the map then walk the right number of paces forward/left/right through the void to not fall off the paths. (very fiddly, but doable)

You can see path by playing with light and angles. Probably a graphics bug but you can just walk

I could just straight up see the path. Maybe because I have Volo's eye and thus True Sight? Or because I had a moon lantern equipped?

Alright guys, thank you!
I'll chalk it up to - puzzle probably depends on your graphics card driver and brightness ;)

There is a path you can see from the distance, you have 2 options, remember the path and try to walk it, or better yet light it up... Daylight on the middle platform will li9ght up the whole walkway

The path is shown on the floor at the starting platform. It shows all the actual tiles.

moon lantern, light will show the way, daylight on the middle platform makes it plain as...daylight.

I did experiment with daylight, but it just shows a void when I do. I was suspecting some bug or maybe you're supposed to cast darkness or something. The visual queues are really inconsistent there.

Hmm I am using vulcan, with high graphics preset, and it was plain as day for me, vulcan could be the difference?

Good call - I've yet to try the Vulkan api on BG3. Thank you!

im surprised so few people noticed. The path is inlaid in the floor mosaic tile at the start.
Very, very obvious.

There's a picture on the floor man. C'mon.
