What is the safe zone for near the monastery?

Safe zone from what? Go to camp.

Outside on ground level and not a roof I think.

just before reaching the monastery/gith creche there's a designated 'safe zone' area. on the map...

it appeared there after i killed the inquisitor. it wasn't there before i entered the creche, but it's there now.

or is it related to the legendary mace beneath the inquisitor room? with the giant weapon that almost destroys the entire creche

not gonna lie.. .if that safe zone is there because of the legendary mace quest... there's no way i or anyone else could make it there in 4 turns.

you would have to fast travel out of the room (which i didn't try during the 4 turns now that i think about it)

It's there for me too. Sending my characters into the zone does nothing.
My guess is that that's where you need to go if you were to try to escape within 4 turns instead of taking out the four traps (or whatever they were) in the mace room, but I'm having a hard time seeing how one could possibly make it that far in so little time.

I managed to do it with all my party surviving the blast. Used potions of speed on every, every turn dashed and bonus dash to get to about X:32 Y:27 made Lezel misty step down to the safe zone nothing happened, had shadowheart and astarion jump down off the monastery. My character i had misty step just near the safe zone and i got a cutscene of the place being destroyed, everyone being pushed to the floor and then Lezel saying our greed just destroyed the creche (Even tho i kinda convinced her that those gith and the queen have betrayed her race)

You can avoid setting off the blast entirely by doing the ceremonial weapon puzzle.

You cannot Fast Travel out of there. At least, not on Tactician or higher.
You CAN get to the safe zone in those 4 rounds.... 3 out of 4 of my party did it by Move, Dash, Misty Step (scroll, spell, or item) each turn. The 4th, we just rez'ed.
It's also possible to jump down from the roof towards the Temple Waypoint. (Feather Fall HIGHLY recommended.)
As mentioned, you can avoid it by using the expensive (300'ish, ok I'm cheap and greedy) shiny from the puzzle....
Bright Side: There's an opportunity to gain or lose favor with Lae'zel after escaping the blast.
Down Side: You might (I do, at least) feel a smidge guilty about destroying the Blue Jay's nest after evicting the Eagle's for him.
