Sleet storm was an absolute god send for me at a major point towards the end of Act 2 (if you choose to not side with the games villain that is).
The massive amount of crowd control made the fight go from what felt like impossible to manageable.
Not saying it would be impossible to do without a wizard or Sorcerer, you'll just need to get creative with both your consumables and support spells/potions I think.
For the record, I am playing an Oath of Vengeance Paladin and my party comprised of Shadowheart, Gale and Astarion.
For the most part I think you can do with out, but you need atleast one person that can do counter spell - or you risk getting into a situation where the entire party is being affected by 'hold person' which means it's an auto loss
This right here! And also as said above, clerics get some fine aoe options too. Failing all that, Withers does provide respeccing for companions too, as long as it doesn't break your immersion too much. Want wizard Karlach? Why, go right ahead! Sorcerer Lae'zel? Totally an option!
Or in your case, Wyll is already a warlock with some limited aoe or multi-enemy damage options as warlock! Or can always be changed to a more aoe/cc happy class if so desired!
Having a caster can be a great help, but you don't have to have one. It really comes down to how your team works together and what fits your playstyle. You can even get away with a full melee team.
Action economy and tactics are usually what matters most, not necessarily the team composition.
But no we did a playthru with a spore druid, vegeence 10 paladin/2 warlock, a shadow monk, and a tempest cleric. So they are not needed
Not sure about her spell repertoire, but she can shapeshift into - say - an owl bear to fly-stomp in the middle of a group of enemies, knocking the back (or prone? Not sure which) and then doing a kind of earthquake stomp for added damage. And the owl bear hit points are a separate HP bar from her "real" hp as well, very nifty!
I'd say that they do have some, not as much as wizards. Spike growth, call lightning, moonbeam are good and later levels cloudkill or insect swrm are good too, I might be missing some, I don't play druids. Though Circle of land might get some more options, if you want to look into that.
