Jaheira?
I don't understand why they created such an inherently unlikable character and present her as if she's not just an overtly evil ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that any morally upstanding character would kill at their earliest convenience... and then have Karlach fangirl over her as if Karlach didn't actively want to kill the exact kind of horrible evil creature she is. Am I missing something? The very first interaction you have with her is her seeing a group of innocent passersby and immediately threatening their lives while cutting off their escape, and upon being proven to be a piece of ♥♥♥♥ publicly when that information is revealed her next move is to try and have a ♥♥♥♥ measuring contest to save face? Like... the only difference between her and Kagha is that Kagha at least had reasonable and morally good motivations for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things she did. Jaheira's just evil for the sake of stroking her own ego, and for some reason the game doesn't seem to treat it that way.

Why is this piece of garbage treated so strangely by the game's narrative?

Yeah, Jaheira is from the other BG games.

I really liked taking her in act 3, she has a lot of dialogue and content, as well as a complete mission.

As for voice acting, personally, I like it.

Overall, the only companion I find terribly mediocre and incongruous is Halsin. The rest, regardless of their personalities, seem to me to be all well written. Minthara is half-implemented and full of bugs, but she has potential.

PS: You are doing the right thing by waiting for the patch, Act 2 is a tailspin in terms of content. Although the entire final arc of Dark Urge seems like a blast to me, so enjoy it.
Absolutely agree. I think all the companions are excellent except for Halsin. I never even spoke to him once he joined the camp so I was confused about why he was sad at the end of act 2 lmao
I only recruit Halsin so (spoiler act 3) that Orin does not kidnap a more interesting companion.

I was going to completely ignore the Grove fight, but I read that doing so would potentially break Minthara's lines, thus I broke character and destroyed the grove. So Halsin, Wyll and Karlach were out. I like what I've seen from Minthara up to where I am and I find her voice acting to be in the top three.
I think Minthara is an incredible character. To be honest, I recruited her in my second game thinking she was going to be a crazy sadist, and yes she is a drow, but she has a twisted sense of honor and a very well written personality.

I would love for this character to take more advantage of her, it's a shame that because of the punishment that comes from her recruiting her, most players won't know her as a companion.

You don't miss a thing with Halsin. Seriously, that character is a pitiful meme.

It trully is a shame about Minthara. They really should had an extra seen after the grove fight, where you get to decide her immediate fate, instead of having her killed permanently during it. Halsin could leave the party if you decided to recruit her later.

Ignoring the fight results in only loosing Halsin, but that is the choice the least people will make.

Fun fact: If you attack the grove you can potentially lose 5 companions, only leaving you with Shadowheart, Lae'zel and Astarion.

Strongly agree. I made a thread about Minthara and what you commented days ago. It has some Dark Urge spoilers so be careful if you read it. But I basically state everything you say.

The punishment for recruiting her (for playing an evil character, in general), is tremendously unfair.

Yeah, Minthara's recruitment path ends up a little weird, because the normal way to recruit her also leaves her side-eyeing you like 'why the hell would you help the absolute attack the grove?' They wrote her to be compatible with a goodish party and actually a little annoyed by chaotic evil senselessness but locked her out of most of those parties by making defending the grove just kill her

I had a satisfactory answer for that one actually: "The answers I was looking for were in the Moonrise Tower and this was my ticket in". I was very glad they included that line, she even approves.

It was both in character and my headcanon.

Oh yeah that works then, my only evil run so far was a dark urge letting loose so she ended up being more of a grumpy drow babysitter for my murderhobbit

Haha, yeah, this happened and I was seriously thinking that she really misread the party picking him lol

Now imagine if Larian had put Edwin lolol

I mean.. TECHNICALLY he is :x (but it requires knowledge from outside the game to KNOW this, and even then it's only HEAVILY implied not outright confirmed, and not necessarily canon with BG3)

Riddle me, Riddle me Boo
If you consider Jaheira Evil
If you consider Edwin Good
Which alignment does that make you?
