WARNING : OWLBEAR CUB MAY DISAPPEAR IF YOU KILL GOBBOS

I tried to submit the following to Larian on their website but not even that is working correctly... Fix your crap guys, come on.

After getting the owlbear cub completely at home in my camp, I kill the goblin leaders and my owlbear cub just straight up disappears. I even got the achievement for petting the owlbear and Scratch at the same time, and noticed after several hours that he was just gone. I've now gone through extensive testing to figure out what's happening.

I reloaded my saves to find where he disappeared. I have killed Minthara and Gut and have only Ragzlin left. I moved one of my party members to camp and had them remain there while I engaged Ragzlin. I get him down to low health with my combat party, check in with Shadowheart back and camp and the owlbear cub is running around joyfully. I go back to the combat, kill Ragzlin, check in with Shadowheart and the owlbear cub has disappeared completely. Scratch is by himself.

I get that you guys have put in a ton of work and I really like this game, but come on guys. This is like the 4th time I've spent hours going through saves to try and figure out why something happened that permanently screwed over my game and it is ALWAYS something absolutely bonkers like this. I can't deal with this anymore, I'll come back to the game in a year maybe when you've actually made it work correctly.

So yeah, if your owlbear disappears it may be due to killing too many gobos... Because that makes sense...

Dude, come on. If you've spent any amount of time in this game you know that this isn't the only instance of this kind of thing, it's just the straw that broke the camel's back. I've literally restarted 30 hours in because a scene wouldn't trigger due to a bug and you only find out halfway through the game because you googled why something doesn't make sense. And you can't exactly blame someone for getting excited about the things that the devs DESIGNED to make you excited and then just having it disappear forever. Don't be a jackass.

It doesn't seem to happen all the time, but I did some googling and found a thread of other folks all asking about it too. I don't know what the common thread is between us all, but this is just for folks that it does happen to to have at least some explanation as to what's happening. Nobody had a concrete reason for it, it just happens sometimes. Wish I could report this bug to Larian but their website doesn't even work right! So here I am. Maybe they'll happen to see it. *shrug*

I haven't seen these other threads. For me, I always get the cub to appear only after kicking the ever-lovin' snot outta the big 3 in the ruins. Is this only happening for people who have seen the cub at the camp before dealing with the Goblin leadership?

Trying to narrow it down.

Possibly. I can't speak for other people, but I did come into the camp on friendly terms, spoke to the gobbo that was in charge of the owlbear chase race and then used animal speaking to speak to the owlbear too. It said that it would love to come with me but I had to take care of the gobbos first. I cleared them all out in the courtyard and then spent a few long rests getting the owlbear to join my camp proper. Maybe that screwed it up when I went back to kill all 3 leaders afterwards...

This just happened to me. I killed princess gut and then went outside and killed the goblins. Then went and did other stuff for a while. The owlbear showed up. Scratch was chasing him around. Then after the tiefling party, scratch is alone.
