But then, we get something like 25 quicksave slots...
Very weak.
Why shame people for playing a certain way?
Can't comprehend their right to enjoy the game they bought as they see fit?
Very weak.
I know, it sucks, but I believe in you.
Before I got the routine down myself, I repeatedly gave up on BG3 because I didn't feel like replaying 5+ hours.
I personally don't long rest more often than I need to (which isn't a lot even on Tactician) so after some exploring and backtracking I would easily lose 3-5 hours of progress in case of say a total party wipe.
Long rest as often as you need to. Food is plenty I have over 2k of it and not even killed the gobbos in the camp yet. Your not going mess up your game by long resting to much the game will make it very obvious if there are consequences.
Try a linear RPG instead, like Final Fantasy.
