By interacting sexually with all your companions.

On a serious note Long rests or in game situations that you may have triggered then when you long rest guardian will appear.

You can not trust them. That will trigger them . It got mine pretty annoyed as the game went on

Sleep. They appear in your dreams.

The more you use Ilithid powers the sooner they appear.

You trigger the dream visitor by getting to specific parts of the game and then they show up at the next long rest. The first time for me was after I got rid of the goblin camp and recued Halsin .. I think if you do the Githyanki Creche first before the goblins they might trigger then too.

when you get to a certain point in game and get the artifact cutscene where you hear the absolute then next rest the guardian will come in your dreams. they kinda made it so you have to reach that point instead of before where you could get dream visits everytime you slept till you saw them all. now they are timed to happen at points in the story which makes much more sense as the visits are spread out throughout the game now.

Shadow above is right. I explored everything apart from goblin camp and Creche (didn't go to mountain pass yet either). Long rested like 20 times and no visitor. And then, just one visit to goblin camp, I've went near the mountain pass exit to the south-west, where a mound is, and then I had the Absolute talking to my character cutscene. After that just long rest and visitor comes...
