Quick question.
Should I take devil sight on my half wood elf warlock even though the half elf comes with 12 metres dark vision?
You could just answered with a yes or no tbh?
Cheers pal
It's not the same as making them invisible, enemies still see you, but they can't hit you with most ranged attacks. Put your companions (especially the squishier ones) inside the darkness at the end of each turn. Walk just out to the edge to do your attacks.
To use darkness effectively, you either need to cast protection from blindness on someone or have the ring that does it for you. With darkvision, you can then run around in darkness and kill everything with impunity.
You can also use it to force enemies to reposition by putting it on top of them.
It is a way of controlling the battlefield.
Such as casting a hurtful AOE in a choke point then placing darkness on the AOE. Darkness will protect you from ranged attacks by blocking LOS while the enemy are forced to run through the AOE to get sight back.
