Why doesn’t Vlaakith just use wish and defeat Orpheus?
So what if a civil war happens? She can just long rest and use wish again and defeat all of the giths who rebel against her.

By the way, wish is overpowered, I know from experience.

It would be funny though if we can counter spell her wish and cause it to defeat her instead.

Because wish still has limits. If you read wish's description in the 5e handbook it mentions that there are a limited number of things wish can do guaranteed. Trying to do something beyond that might fail or have unintended consequences (up to the DM) and comes with the 33% chance you'll never be able to cast the spell again.

Wish in general can't really ♥♥♥♥ with artifacts either way.

Wish would make a great thing for Karlach to quest for in order to be able to live.

Why don’t Orin use Power Word : kill to one shot the main character but instead fights rather honorably ?

A lot of the end level spells don’t make sense and it’s good that we don’t have them in the game.

Also why is Power Word : kill a level 9 spell when it’s not much better than Disintegrate ?

Kill an enemy with less than 100 hp but can’t be a giant size .

When Laezel can do more than 100 damage with just triple atack single action sword bashing

But Vlaakith had clearly shown that she can slay people no matter where she is/where we are by wishing for it…

The point behind PWK is that it's a guaranteed, unavoidable (other than counterspell) execute. No save, nothing you can do, just death.
It kills trough wild shape, it kills trough polymorph, it doesnt care about any health buffers or healthgates you put in the way, it doesn't care about anything, if you're below the threshold you're dead.

In act 3 I had power word kill used against my entire group (with only Shadowheart surviving it for some reason) but in that instance it took the caster 3 turns to power it up. And then it killed all of us (again, dunno why Shadowheart survived completely unharmed, must be a high level save)

I imagine that's not as fun for the edgy tumblr oc to go for. She's all about that excessive gore and ♥♥♥♥. Just using a spell to get it done in one second isn't her vibe.

There is no save against PWK. If you have less than 100 HP at the time, you are dead. No save.

I was wondering this myself since she willed my entire party to die, so we died, LOL

And she might only be able to have a "high success rate" in certain places under certain conditions. You cannot "infinity glove snap like" wish in D&D.

"DM latitude" also is important to note.

Well, there is in this game because Shadowheart didn't die - it's that or it didn't target her even though she was with the group at the time. In any case, it is a triggered / scripted event so loads of people must have experienced something similar.

On your way to Orin through the blood door in the sewers in act 3. Some far away mage will cast PWK on the group and you have to stop him in 3 turns.

Gods work through others because when they get involved directly, so do other gods with different agendas. Like A country that could use nukes in a war, but chooses not to because of the consequences.
