House of Hope, Wow Larian, didn't think it would "go there"

SPOILERS, and just to be clear, I am not complaining, just surprised they did this...

For anyone who has done the House of Hope quest in act 3, you are aware of the demon that, by modern standards, will rape one of your characters. It will give usually the main character, or if they are out of range, what ever the closest character is, two options.
Die or sex. (You don't automatically die, but it will try to kill you)

At one point the game hangs waiting for player input and you see in great detail as the demon is having it's way with the character, while the character is writhing in pleasure.

It was super weird the first time for me because it was Jerraria, with her old nude body, being pounded by the demon.

Gotta say, one of the most strange moments in a video game for me.

In my good guy main run I went full murderhobo on the House of Hope, it seemed appropriate.

You'd think so, but that notion of what constitutes rape is fairly progressive/modern. In the olden days (think decades, not centuries), it was literally considered impossible for a husband to rape a wife, for example. They were little more than property, and therefore the man was in his right to "use" his property as he wished.

It's still the case in some countries, and even within countries where it isn't the case, small, isolated communities are sometimes beholden to those older ideas.

I don't disagree, but by cultural standards it has changed. For the better of course.

Both parties should be willing and have an exit.

it's not a sex scene that you get out of by fighting. It is a fighting scene you can get out of by having sex. Of course the correct option is to kill all devils no matter what they say to you.

What the hell, I've completley missed this. Everyone became hostile to me as soon as I opened a door, never got any dialogue in the House of Hope other than with Hope. And I even had the ''disguise'' on.
