Yes my sorcerer is only lvl 2 at the moment and I was wondering if I would start seeing a difference at higher levels.
Wizard can AoE at will without having to worry about allied positions if they are evocation-spec and they can learn a ton more spells, whereas sorc can only have access to a limited amount of spells.
There's more differences I'm sure, but that's what I'm aware of as a person who doesn't know 5e and only has played a sorc so far.

You will, and I highly recommend at mid to high levels taking a level of cleric or fighter or w/e. There's no arcane spell failure in this, so you can be slinging spells with like 20+ AC
Wizards can choose what to bring into each fight from a wide repertoire, making them extremely situation aware if you scout a bit first. the next baddie immune to fire, but vulnerable to poison? Interesting...
Each wizard school gives a specific special thing as well. One that is always on... no points to manage and run out of. They can also get a few slots back per day, during the day.
In essence, Sorcerers can do way more damage in one round.... and Wizards have an option for every challenge. Different playstyles.
Sorcerers multiclass easier, if that matters, with warlock, bard and paladin.
Metamagic at lvl 3 is the (start of the) big different between Wizard and Sorcerer.
As for stronger? It depends what looking for.
From a purely DPS standpoint. A Sorcerer has more resources it can dump into a single spell to make it do more damage in a round than a Wizard. But it'll burn through those quickly.
Where a Wizard can make up "strength" in utility and flexibility while still being able to sling plenty powerful spells.
It's a shame the level cap is 12. Wizards really shine at the higher levels.
While wizard are simply more forgiving.
Sorcerer cons: can just feel gimmicky and not very good in many encounters
Wizard pros: can snowball hard and use your extensive spell arsenal to become very powerful
Wizard cons: wizards are nerds
