Sorcerer vs Wizard
I prefer a sorcerer over a wizard but from what I have read about the two I have not seen any difference and I was wonder if there really was a difference besides the fact that one can scribe scrolls and the other cannot (and I don't mean the different subclass choices).

I heard that a sorcerers magic is supposed to be stronger than a wizards but I have not really seen any difference. Is this true or am I reading things wrong?

the primary reason people would prefer wizard is that they can learn spells from scrolls

You must be craaaazy low level to not see the difference yet.

Sorc is better imo, wiz is more about answers and situational versatility (and they don't get metamagic in this, whereas sorcs do.)

Yes my sorcerer is only lvl 2 at the moment and I was wondering if I would start seeing a difference at higher levels.

yeah where wizards have more room for variety, Sorcs make what limitations they have into absolute boom booms.

Sorc gets metamagic which lets them do things like in just a single turn: cast haste on two people, double cast a super strong spell like chain lightning, and then cast yet another spell with twinned and quickened spell metamagics.

Wizard can AoE at will without having to worry about allied positions if they are evocation-spec and they can learn a ton more spells, whereas sorc can only have access to a limited amount of spells.

There's more differences I'm sure, but that's what I'm aware of as a person who doesn't know 5e and only has played a sorc so far.

You will, and I highly recommend at mid to high levels taking a level of cleric or fighter or w/e. There's no arcane spell failure in this, so you can be slinging spells with like 20+ AC

The sorcerer's schtick is their metamagic and sorcery points. They can squeeze a few extra spell slots from them or do neat metamagic things like twinning spells.

Sorcerers can do AMAZING things with their spells... but they have limited uses. Choose very well, because you get what you picked, and can only change them when leveling one at a time... or respec.
Wizards can choose what to bring into each fight from a wide repertoire, making them extremely situation aware if you scout a bit first. the next baddie immune to fire, but vulnerable to poison? Interesting...
Each wizard school gives a specific special thing as well. One that is always on... no points to manage and run out of. They can also get a few slots back per day, during the day.

In essence, Sorcerers can do way more damage in one round.... and Wizards have an option for every challenge. Different playstyles.

Sorcerers multiclass easier, if that matters, with warlock, bard and paladin.

It takes a little bit time of the arcane magic classes to really separate.
Metamagic at lvl 3 is the (start of the) big different between Wizard and Sorcerer.

As for stronger? It depends what looking for.
From a purely DPS standpoint. A Sorcerer has more resources it can dump into a single spell to make it do more damage in a round than a Wizard. But it'll burn through those quickly.
Where a Wizard can make up "strength" in utility and flexibility while still being able to sling plenty powerful spells.

When I have the itch to play a magic user I want to learn all the spells; wizard scratches that itch better. Sorcerer is fun and initially very powerful, but too limiting spell-wise for me.

It's a shame the level cap is 12. Wizards really shine at the higher levels.

something to keep in mind also, innate casters can restore their spell slots from quick rests, while prepared casters requires long rest.

Sorcerer are stronger but you kinda need to know what you are doing since their spells selection is very limited. Using scrolls can partially counter that part.

While wizard are simply more forgiving.

Sorcerer pros: can specialize better than wizards
Sorcerer cons: can just feel gimmicky and not very good in many encounters

Wizard pros: can snowball hard and use your extensive spell arsenal to become very powerful
Wizard cons: wizards are nerds
