I would throw in a level of War Domain cleric (so at lvl 6, you would be Battlemaster 5, War Domain 1)so you can occasionally make an attack as a bonus action with your crossbow. And have bless to help land sharpshooter more reliably. But only 1 level, so you can get Fighter 11 for the 3 attacks per action.
I'm not too familiar with Clerics, what makes 1 point in war domain worth it? Other than that I'm happy to hear that battle master attacks work with ranged.
Which attacks would you pick? I assume the dissarm one, perhaps the fear one?
It gives you the ability to make attacks as a bonus action. But unlike dual wielding, it isn't with an offhand. its with you main weapon, so in this case, a Heavy Crossbow. Granted, you can only do this twice every short rest, but still, it will let you nova for potentially 10 attacks for two turns.
Also, I tend to take disarm, trip, and fear for ranged.
I use Disarm, fear and goading but goading is very replaceable so simply pick something you like for the 3rd.
