The Yugir fight is stupid
As soon as the fight starts he throws bombs at you then shoots them to detonate this could wipeout most of you party on my first try it downed 3 members straight away. how was I even supposed to know there was going to be a fight I literally can't fight back from that.

This is one of the easiest fights in the game, just use a bit charisma+skillchecks.

You can sneak to the area by jumping onto the broken stairs, you will then be on the upper level. I simply nuked him from stealth which took down his hp quite a bit which resulted in only one bomb throw, but my party were quite spread out. The stealth gives you surprise initiative so you get more turns in.

Only downside is you miss all his dialogue, I simply listened to it and performed the other strat instead because as you say, it is poorly balanced.

edit: As the other guy pointed out in the spoiler, you can take that action too. Point being, it shouldn't be a necessary action.

Even without it is quite easy. Just have your tank talk, while the rest of your folks are hidden, and ready to strike:D
By me it was Lae'zal, she talked to him, she already had a decently high enough init already( defender+protector with dex resilient), she also has quite a distance she can jump. She talks to Yurgur, takes first turn so my three others shoot at Yurgur, then Lae'zal either misty steps, or jumps up to join them. So no more advantage against her:)
Also confusing the devils makes everything very easy.

because I would have had to save and load the game like 50 times to actually get a passed skillcheck

It's a perfectly valid option. I don't understand people that just want to murderhobo everything.

Instead of getting into a useless fight, you get the job done for you with your "silver tongue". Get exp, get loot, no hassle. Win-win.

I also play both sides on Act 1, just so I can access all the vendors. All thanks to my character's "silver tongue".
You don't get the choice to murder hobo or not if you loose a skillcheck and that one requires like a pretty high number to pass

You can throw the bombs back at them. It works well. Spam ice storm, too.

This fight automatically started for my playthrough since I talked with Raphael before the entrance and agreed to kill the demon. But guess what happens when you pick up all those bombs and throw them back? :D

I didn't have a problem with this fight at all. He throws bombs, then I pick them up and throw them back at him. Problem solved?

Didn't know you could throw back the bombs, interesting mechanic I hadn't experienced before in the game. Guess I should have tried clicking them, when they did land they were easily avoided for me though. It was the sheer number of enemy turns that did me in before I went the other route.

Basically it is the classic Larian game design that ruins everything in these encounters. Worst fights in the game are :

- Gnolls in act 1

- The iron golem act 1

-Nere and duergar fight act 1

-The Orthon in act 2

- Bhaal temple before Orin in Act 3

They are getting better because divinity original sin 2 was entirely built around ambushes and metaplay strategies

I don't throw the bombs back at him, since iirc, they're immune to the damage. I just move them away (it doesn't take any actions or movement to do this, just click drag if you're close enough).

Super easy, barely an inconvenience.

They're immune to the fire damage, but not the force. That can still do a decent amount.

If i am not mistaken, you actually get a lot more xp from killing everyone. But maybe my combat log was just bugged? I did not see any xp rewards from his henchmen after they killed themselves.

Have you tried killing rats in the temple? And keep doing that even when a rat will ask you to stop doing that. That actually has relevance to Yugir been traped in the temple, and how Raphael is a huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Just try.

You are correct, I checked this when trying the dialogue option out. No XP if you get him to kill his own comrades.
