If you kill Ethel in that first round, after she ports Mayrina away when you first enter her hut the illusion spell on the fireplace will break. Problem is it will be difficult to click and walk through for some reason. Work around I found, was to use misty step to get a character past the fireplace/right close to where the illusionary wall was, and then just walk through and your party will follow.
You can go through the rest of her place as usual, get the wand for Mayrina's husband, free her from the cage, she'll be pissed at you, but ultimately you meet her at the coffin and it all plays out like usual.
She's dead, but it remains
Weird. It's like they did not expect anyone to be able to snuff AE before she did anything.
For proper sequence, you have to let AE teleport Mayrina and escape to her lair, otherwise, you're risking some weird stuff.
It gives you advantage on whatever it hits, and it breaks invisibility as a pretty big AOE.
Sorcerers and archfey warlocks get it at level 1, not sure about other classes.
Pretty important to keep her alive as else act 3 will have one more empty house with nothing to see or do in it.
For that matter if you kill everything that moves in act 1 & 2 or skip most content act 3 will be very empty.....i wonder if the loudest complainers about act 3 actually did that.
just right click and examine the 2 Mayrinas. One's attributes are all 10, the other has a charisma of 18. the one that has stats all 10 is a regular human npc.
