64 cubic feet is like a washing machine. My barbarian can hold as much as a bag of holding. Which doesn't matter anyway, because if you transfer things from the traveler's chest to a character standing next to a vendor, you can make them weigh ton.
I've been able to bomb things with traveler's chest barrel's just fine. With the added benefit of knowing which barrel is which.
zzzzzzzz
the post is about nerfed mundane chest, along with notion of disappointment, reverberated in most of the replies. Bro you're feeling okay?
Like what was the idea here?
One of two things would happen:
1. The player takes something out and finds out it's a chest that actually has some minor treasure.
2. Don't take something out and does not find out it has some minor treasure.
Like... ok? What is the point of that? It's not "fun" it's not interesting it's just.... looting with extra steps.
And since they IS a Single Player game, feel free to use mods, or cheat trainers, whatever to max your equipment carry capacity.
You do not want fun, because if you did, you wouldn't need the chest, you would have done like I suggested.
What you want is the illusion of not cheating when you are obviously cheating.
I think this is like my fourth time explaining it? I wish people read threads. People use chest of mundane as like a bag of holding. Which also means, people found cheeky things to do with it, like carry around 70 barrels of oil so you could effortlessly set up a massive bomb and trivialize any encounter.
which is shenanigans that has ALWAYS been a part of D&D. People just love doing this stuff. So nerfing the chest so people couldn't carry it around anymore and making it basically useless is directly in contest of the game itself. People like breaking things. The people that don't, don't have to do it.
There was no reason to nerf something that was extremely useful, regardless of how people were using it to make the game trivial or otherwise.
It's not a glitch. They didn't have foresight to know what people would do with it, which is hilarious because literally anyone that has campaigns that go into the underdark winds up abusing explosives in some way. Its part of the game. One Larian tried to avoid by not allowing a bag of holding. They just didn't realize at the time they gave us one. There was no exploit or glitch here, Larian just saw something fun and didn't like it makes the game easy if people *CHOOSE* to use it.
