Game Mods without a manager?
Is it even possible? Everything I am seeing is that you need a manager to even get them, let alone install them...

Yeah it's possible, but unless you know what you're doing it's far from recommended.

I assume you're talking about Nexus, and if so pay attention because there's a direct download option for every mod on that site.

Both nexus and BG Mod Manager was what i was referring to.
I just want the mod itself... I am fairly confident I can get it working myself.
However, GETTING the mods seems to be the issue... other than nexus, they dont seem to exist.

Use the manual download option. If you don't know what to do from there, you don't know enough to be messing about in critical game files.

Just download them manually......simple!
Ravenclaw Aug 26, 2023 @ 7:14pm
Actually, I didnt know there was a manual download from Nexus. All the articles I read indicated the need for a manager.

yea its possible but its quite the hassle imo. the manager is simple to use. is there any particular reason you want to install mods manually?

Using manager = bad

comes with different issues and will bite you every patch

If you aren't able to figure out mods without Nexus, let alone where to find them, then just use Nexus.

this isn't necessarily true and varies on the type of mod installed. the most recent patches did absolutely nothing to my game and everything's working as intended

Good for you. I am definitely fed up by all those posts of people claiming they removed everything, just to find out they did not or believe they could play vanilla again after creating savegames dependencies.
GorishiDan Aug 26, 2023 @ 7:45pm
i get that. when you mod games u gotta be real careful cuz you risk bricking your save and there's rarely anything you can do about it. granted some games are more mod-friendly than others and may be able recover from a mod getting ripped out mid-playthrough while others wont, you should always handle mods with care.

Yes manual is preferable but you need to know the ins and outs of your PC and modding, you also need to manage load orders etc, its some what advanced when you have a lot and time consuming.
MrMordekaiser Aug 26, 2023 @ 10:07pm
depends on the mod, something simple like [feats every level]? easy its two files you remove and add on a whim no problem, but something like [lvl 20],[dnd 5e spells] etc. youll want to watch youtube videos and make sure you follow every step exactly as well as potentially installing them with the bg mod manager from nexus mods, now that patch 1 has come out feel free to experiment, but pay attention to what mods you use { like keeping copies in a folder) so you can take them out one at a time if you have unexpected crashes
PocketYoda Aug 26, 2023 @ 10:36pm
Basically you add a file to the mod folder and then edit the modsettings.lsx file in AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public

The difficult part is making sure the modsettings.lsx file has all your mods in order or your game will crash.

Unless its a replacer which you overwrite files with but always make a back of the originals.

Dude you just extract the modmanager folder somewhere in your localdisk, drop mods inside appdata/local/larian/bg3/mods, open manager and drag all mods to the left, save order and open game
