Perfectly fine to play without other people. If you mean without the NPC companions, it's possible but it'll be far more difficult.

Yes, in solo you can explore all the companions. Developer actually recommends coop to ignore the companions in favor of genuine custom characters. Solo is for companions.

I'd go as far as to say its mostly going to be best played solo. Its such a huge game with so much emphasis on story and roleplay that you'd need a very dedicated group to play it multiplayer at its best.

if you mean without other people, Absolutly, ive played the game for about hours last time i checked, and its very fun. If you mean without the companions in the game, i would advise against it, but it is still possible. On top of the game encounters being designer around you having companions, you would miss out on their story, which is a decently large potion of the game.
