No one begged the devs to make Aylin gay; they just did it because they wanted to.
Like I could maybe understand the Gale-magic scene, although I personally saw the line "sensual" and backed out of it, but otherwise you really have to actively go along with character's flirting to really get into a relationship with them and they give you plenty of times to back out.
