Sad about one thing
So far I have heard not a single mention of Abdel Adrian. (canonical main character of Baldur's gate 1&2) I haven't beaten the game yet, but I'm in act III. I have so far ran into two characters from the previous games. and neither of them mention Gorion's ward. not a single reference to him anywhere. probably intentional. but still kinda sad.

I have literally not heard about this canonical character until someone mentioned him on this forum. The guy is utterly irrelevant to BG 3 anyway. They would piss of way too many fans of the original if they made this guy the one and only Gorion's Ward.

Volo refers to him (awkwardly) as Gorion's Ward in Act 3. There's also a shield called Abdel's Trusted Shield, which has a note attached to it signed "AA."

He doesn't get mention a lot, but there are definitely mentions of him.

Now *I'm* sad about one thing XD

Nah.
Then How do i know about him? the reason is because the story was turned into an official novel. And Gorion's ward was given a name, and a class. turning those exact events into the ones, that actually happened.
The BG novelizations aren't canon. Only tabletop content is canon to 5E.

Abdel Adrian, however, is canon becuase he appears (and dies) in the 5E tabletop module Murder in Baldur's Gate, and is referenced in the 5E tabletop module Descent Into Avernus.

Tabletop Abdel and novelization Abdel do share some features, like being Gorion's Ward, human fighters, etc., but that's about where the similarities end.

All we really know about canon Abdel is that he defeated Sarevok and Irenicus, didn't become a God, became the leader of the Flaming Fist, became Grand Duke of Baldur's Gate, and killed/died fighting the last Bhaalspawn, thereby resurrecting Bhaal, about a decade before Descent Into Avernus/BG3.

We don't, for example, know anything about his romantic exploits, like we do about novel Abdel, and novel Abdel also never became Grand Duke.

Didn't know all this. Makes perfect sense.

I agree, I'm still going to put him from my mind as I've always hated the character. He can be Toril 2 canon.

Male character portrait 14 from KotOR is the canonical Hero of Baldur's Gate, deal with it.

I always thought his name was <CHARNAME>

The more important question is, how can you romance him?

Nice. I'm gad this game at least acknowledges Gorion's ward.

Honestly is better that way. So everyone can assume their character did the deed.

Agreed. Especially since Abdel is a terribly boring character.

I was aware of the module, but I never looked it over. Thanks for the clarification.
